From Perth: 3-Day Margaret River Escape

1. From Perth: 3-Day Margaret River Escape

Begin day one by making a scenic drive from Perth to the charming seaside towns. First stop is Mandurah, where you’ll have a chance to stretch your legs or grab a coffee by the foreshore (at own expense). Then it’s on to Bunbury where you’ll visit the Featured Wood Gallery, before continuing onto Busselton, where you'll stop for lunch. Following lunch, take a leisurely walk along the famous Busselton Jetty, the longest timber jetty in the southern hemisphere stretching 1.1 miles (1.8 km) out into the picturesque Geographe Bay. From the jetty we continue south towards Margaret River and everyone’s favourite, the Margaret River Chocolate Company. Next, head to the McLeod family farm to see their horses & Western Grey Kangaroos in their natural environment. After a full day touring settle into your accommodation for the evening. (evening meal at own expense) On day 2, Enjoy breakfast at The White Elephant café by the beach. The tour goes underground at the spectacular Mammoth Cave, one of just a few caves in the south west which contains fossils of Megafauna. A scenic drive through the majestic Boranup Forest will leave you in awe of the beautiful Karri trees. Discover the different flavours of Jarrah, Karri & Marri honey in the forest. Then pass through Augusta, before arriving at the tallest lighthouse on mainland Australia, Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse. Take a guided tour and spot the point where the Southern and Indian oceans meet. You may be lucky enough to spot whales out in the distance.  Stop for lunch and at the Colour Patch restaurant with stunning views of the Blackwood River. On our return trip, enjoy wine tasting at an award-winning winery. You’ll then have some free time in town to stroll along the main street and pick up a special memento or gift to take home. Return to your accommodation at around 5:00 PM to relax after a busy day and dine at your leisure. (evening meal at own expense) After breakfast on day 3, visit Yahava Koffee Works and indulge in a tasting while hearing from the experts. The tour then visits two boutique vineyards showcasing Margaret River's renowned wines. At the second winery we enjoy cheese & crackers to a-company the wine tasting. All that wine tasting can build up an appetite, we sit down for a gourmet lunch at local favourite Olio Bello. Whilst here for lunch, its a great opportunity to sample their extensive range of extra virgin olive oils, balsamic's, relishes and produce. After lunch, we depart for Perth, usually arriving by approximately  6:00PM.

From Albany: Mount Barker Wine Tasting Day Tour

2. From Albany: Mount Barker Wine Tasting Day Tour

Meet at the Albany Visitor Centre. Meander through backroads to taste outstanding wines from wineries of the Mt Barker sub-region of the Great Southern appellation; known for its Rieslings. This region has a characteristically cool climate with slow ripening times which allows for the development of rich flavors and quality grape juice. Wine tasting begins at Gilbert Wines, home to the ‘lads’ and where a morning coffee might be preferred. At Plantagenet wines, you are taken to the tasting bench to choose your wine and make your purchase to accompany a scrumptious shared platter lunch of local produce. Then it's on to Galafrey Wines, another family-owned winery and home to prominent female wine-maker Kim Tyrer. From there head to West Cape Howe where you can sample wine from their extensive range, olive oil, or their own brand of coffee. Our Busy Blue Bus Tour guide will take care of the skipper duties, while you relax and enjoy the scenery and the sensational flavors of the region.

Augusta: Whale Watching Tour

3. Augusta: Whale Watching Tour

Step on board and cruise Flinders Bay in style on board the Alison Maree, the sturdiest charter vessel in the South West. Everyone is treated as a VIP on board the vessel with complimentary access available to the Skippers lounge. Listen to old folk stories from Skipper Dundee or Jamie or head down the front of the vessel and learn the history and movements of the whales from the experienced on board Marine Biologist, ask them as many questions as you like. Enjoy a morning or afternoon tea consisting of a hot drink or water and help yourself to some biscuits. With a 99% success sighting rating, you are almost 100% guaranteed to see whales on your tour, if not you can join a tour again for free. The tours are family friendly and suitable for all ages. On average it takes about 7 minutes from departing the Marina until whales are sighted, with over 35000 Humpbacks migrating, binoculars aren't required, there's plenty to see. The cruise goes for approximately 2 hours in the sheltered waters of Flinders Bay, Augusta which is a resting place for the whales whilst on their northern migration. Quite often sighted here is the Southern Right whale - always amazing to see as they were once almost extinct from being hunted back in the whaling days, and due to their gestation period their populations haven't quite recovered as well as the Humpbacks.

Great day on the Mount Barker grape escape tour with Michelle of Busy Blue Bus. Couldn’t have wanted a better driver - friendly and a great source of local information and wines. Four wineries done and dusted … each of them excellent. Would highly recommend for anyone travelling to this beautiful area 😊

We had a lovely day. Small group hosted by Susan - really knowledgeable about the area and the different wineries and wines. Visited 4 wineries - all with more tasting options than we could manage so you could try wines based on your preferences. A lovely lunch included. Highly recommended.

Had a wonderful day Phil was very knowledgeable and enjoyed every part!!! Phil was so lovely when one of our travellers realised they left their phone behind at the last stop and trekked it all the way back!!!

Terrific guide, well-planned itinerary, kept to the scheduled timing. We really enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommend.

Great meals and very knowledgeable guide about Western Australia.
