Budapest: Underground Cave Walking Tour

2. Budapest: Underground Cave Walking Tour

Venture away from the city’s beaten path to the Szemlő-hegyi and Pál-völgyi caves. Follow guides from the Hungarian Caving Association and get access to some parts of the caves that most tourists can’t enter.  Go 500 meters into the two caves, which feature an unusual up-welling of warm, mineral-rich water. Learn why the Szemlő-hegyi Cave is referred to as the underground flower garden of Budapest and see its unique rock formations. Explore the interactive exhibition and educational trail.  Continue to the Pál-völgyi Cave and marvel at Hungary's longest cave system, around 32 kilometers. Find stunning stalactite and stalagmite formations, and glittering calcite crystals.  Experience the famous Theater Hall, renowned as an echo chamber with impressive acoustics. Finish your tour with a peek at the quarry from one of the caves' many hidden exits.

Budapest: Hiking Tour in the Buda Hills

3. Budapest: Hiking Tour in the Buda Hills

Get off the beaten path and relax in nature on a hiking tour of the Buda Hills. Meet your guide in front of Széll Kálmán tér metro station. After taking public transport from the meeting point, the hike starts on the slopes of Normafa, where you’ll get the first amazing views of Budapest from above.  Follow trails through the woods and ascend gradually through the hills to the famous viewpoint, the Elizabeth Lookout Tower. Admire the splendid views, then continue to a small cave that is safe to explore. After passing an abandoned limestone quarry, you’ll reach the extraordinary Tündér-szikla (Fairy-rock). Descend the hills and take a bus back to the city, where your tour will end.

Budapest: Danube River Rafting Experience and Drink

4. Budapest: Danube River Rafting Experience and Drink

The extraordinary sightseeing experience on river Danube! Spend an unforgettable afternoon on the Danube river with sightseeing from a super stable raft boat. See the city from a special point of view, without the crowdedness of the most popular places. We start our ride from the Northern section of Budapest and as we paddle down along the twist of the river, we pass by all the main attractions, which are perfectly visible from the river. Among other notable buildings, you will see the magnificent Parliament, paddle under all the historical bridges, admire the ridges of the Buda hills as they rise above the city. At the end of our trip we arrive at an intimate bar on the river bank, surrounded by a natural reserve and calm waters. You are our guest for a refreshing beer or a soft drink at the bar! This is a fully guided tour so I will tell stories about the sights and their role in the history of Budapest. Before we set sail I teach you the basics of paddling and how to behave on the river. I provide safety vests and dry bags in which you can carry your most important belongings. The boat we use is made for white water adventures, so super stable and almost impossible to tip over. Please note that the starting point of the trip is at a different part of the city than the finish point. Both are easily reachable by public transport or taxis.

Our hike in the Buda Hills with Laszlo was very enjoyable. The scenery was fantastic, and Laszlo, our guide was a pleasure to be with. Not only did he provide a good hike, he filled us in on the history of the area and gave an impromptu lesson in picking mushrooms! We could not have had a better experience.

Had a wonderful hike with guide Laszlo through the Buda Hills and to the tower for a beautiful view of the city. The day even included photos and a stop for strudel!
