From Prague: Full-Day Trip to Česky Krumlov

1. From Prague: Full-Day Trip to Česky Krumlov

Join this full-day trip from Prague that features tours of the historic center of Česky Krumlov and its castle and museum. Visit a town that seems to have been lifted from a fairy tale. Česky Krumlov, located about 170 kilometers from Prague, is nestled in the beautiful countryside of southern Bohemia, with lovely views along the Vltava River. The UNESCO-listed town center features over 300 historic houses and the second-largest castle in the Czech Republic, complete with magnificent baroque gardens. Visit the unique theater with a rotating auditorium. Česky Krumlov has preserved its medieval atmosphere, as you’ll experience when you walk along the picturesque narrow streets, where you’ll find shops filled with handmade souvenirs. At one time, the castle was the seat of important noble families, including the Rosenbergs, Eggenbergs, and Schwarzenbergs. The oldest baroque theater in the world is part of the castle as well.

Prague: Day Trip to Karlovy Vary and St. Maurus Reliquary

2. Prague: Day Trip to Karlovy Vary and St. Maurus Reliquary

Enjoy a full-day guided trip to Karlovy Vary, the most renowned and historical Czech spa town, with a visit to Moser Glassworks and the incredible reliquary of St. Maurus in Bečov Castle.  Travel from Prague for about 2 hours in a comfortable air-conditioned minibus to Karlovy Vary. This town was founded as early as 1370 by the mighty and powerful Czech emperor Charles IV and has 13 main hot springs and more than 300 smaller springs. Visit the town center’s ornamental spa buildings before visiting the most powerful spring, Vřídlo, which rises from a depth of 3000 meters and reaches a temperature of 73°C.   Then, visit the headquarters and museum of Moser Glassworks, one of the most famous glass manufacturers in Europe, founded in 1857. See breathtaking samples of contemporary and historical art glass exhibits and see how these articles are made.  After lunch in a charming local restaurant, continue on to the castle of Loket nad Ohří, a stunning medieval place that has been underestimated and forgotten. Admire the massive castle and the unique locations that became popular again through their appearance in the James Bond film “Casino Royale”. Finally, it’s time for the highlight of the tour. St. Maurus’s reliquary (a container for relics), housed inside Bečov Castle, is considered one of the most important historical items in the country and a priceless part of Czech cultural heritage. This is truly a sight to behold.  After admiring this priceless piece of history, you’ll return to Prague for about 7:00 PM.

Nice trip, too bad that in winter the castle is closed

We booked this tour for February 13, aware that the castle would be closed. It was however a nice tour since the town is very picturesque and you can visit the castle exhibition and climb the tower where you can enjoy a beautiful view. The very knowledgeable guide spoke English and Italian. It would have been nice to have a little more time to visit the characteristic shops.

Wonderful day excursion

Excellent trip to and from Česky Krumlov. Very comfortable mini van. Martin was an outstanding guide along the two hour ride to Česky Krumlov. He explained areas and buildings along the way as well as giving a nice guided tour in Česky Krumlov. Highly recommended.

An engaging and interesting day out.

It was disappointing that the guide shared more of his own activities in life than engaging in detailed commentary about the location.

Impressive lovely world heritage worth visit!

We enjoyed walking around Cesky Krumlov town. Every turn has something to offer. Beautiful scenery!

Sophie is very entertaining and friendly. She has a lot of patience waiting for us taking photos .
