Full description

Go on a guided walking tour through Bogatá’s El Paraíso favela district. Hop on a cable car, meet with community leaders, learn about the local life, and see technicolor graffiti-filled walls.

Start your journey with either hotel pickup, or a bus transfer, accompanied by your guide. Arrive at the cable car station and begin your ride up the hill to El Paraiso.

Takin in the panoramic views as your soar over the city. Gaze down at the colorful houses, and get a bird's eye view of the harsh living realities faced by the residents.

After your ascent, head off on a walking tour with your local guide to get a feel for the neighborhood. Wander the bustling avenues, spotting street art among the neon-painted houses and narrow boulevards.

Meet local community leaders in charge of the New Life Foundation, learning about the positive changes that are being put into place to help revitalize this vibrant, yet underserved district. Continue to the best spot for panoramic views over the entire city, then try a traditional Colombian snack to get a feel for local culinary culture. Afterwards, head back down on the cable car, having seen a glimpse into one of Bogotá's most notorious favelas.

If you're thinking about doing this experience - do it! It's such a different side to see if Bogita from the north and the La Candelaria districts. Fransisco is a wealth of knowledge. We particularly enjoyed the dog who followed us all the way from the cable car stop at the top to the end of the tour, to be fed by Fransisco - his friend! 10/10 tour.

This tour brought such an overwhelming love and appreciation for the city of Bogotá, and it’s lovely people. The tour began by Immersing ourselves with our amazing local guide Francisco to ride on the integral form of local transportation- trans millennial bus system. Many people had warned me not to, but I followed the lead and it was fine. Then boarded the gondola to learn about culturally significant street art and history of Ciudad Bolívar. Finally we reach the top of the mountain are immediately overwhelmed with a magical town with its beautiful view of bogota. Being up there, you can see just how big Bogotá really is and enjoy the company of your two tour guides plus your group and the sweet local dogs. For lunch we had some sandwiches and pastries from the bakery and then headed back down the mountain. I highly recommend this tour if you want to learn about local history and art.

We had a wonderful experience in doing the Favela tour with cable car. Our guides, Francisco, John and Sergio (trainee) were amazing by their historical knowledge and background information they gave us about Bogota and the Favela. We felt very safe with them while being on the TransMilenio and in the Favela. The Favela was amazing to see and we again felt very safe, the streets were clean, the painting on the houses were amazing and I would recommend anyone wanting to visit a Favela to start by the one in Bogota. You will be nicely surprised. Once again, thank you so much for such great guides, it was a real pleasure and eye opening.
