Full description

Travel deep into the Andean jungle on a 3-hour trek to see the great sights of El Chiflón and La Chorrera waterfalls.

Meet your experienced bilingual guide in Bogotá and start the day with a traditional Columbian breakfast at an authentic hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Then, set off by private van to La Chorrera.

Drive past the East Hills on the way and stop to take pictures of the paramo of Cruz Verde.

Arrive at the park and begin the approximately 3-hour round-trip hike through the lush, green Andean forest, learning about the native life and plants of the area. Continue your trek to reach the 1,936-foot (590-meter) wall of cascading water that is La Chorrera. Take in the breathtaking sight of Colombia's mightiest waterfall amid a wonderland of natural beauty.     Throughout the hike, see and learn about the colorful birds hidden at the top of the trees and breathe in the clean air in this spectacular landscape.   Refuel with lunch at a beautiful restaurant and marvel at the spectacular views here before heading back to Bogotá.

Tremendous experience, but it took longer than estimated. This was partially due to stopping to take in the beautiful scenery and take pictures and partially due to the age of the older participants (ourselves!). The guide (Nick) was great - he didn't pressure anyone to pick up the pace. It was truly at a pace you are comfortable with. Due to the amount of time it took to complete the hike, lunch was delayed. This wasn't a big issue, The food seemed to have been prepared for our originally estimated arrival time and "kept warm" until we arrived. If there was a negative to the tour - this was it.

Excellent tour to appreciate the beauty of waterfalls and mountain landscapes just 1.5 hours from the city of Bogotá. Congratulations to Alejandro Rojas, our guide for his high level of knowledge and empathy with the group. I only suggest correcting the duration of the tour since it is not 6 hours but 8 to 9 hours actually.

This was a great day trip from Bogota! We LOVED our tour guide Julie - she was informative and sweet and very patient with our lack of Spanish (her English was excellent). She was patient as we needed some extra time for breaks along the way and kept a reasonable pace. The waterfall was stunning and so worth the hike, but know that this is challenging! A lot of rock stairs and steep uphill climbs. Incredibly challenging and incredibly rewarding.
