Full description

Go on a guided walking tour through Bogatá’s El Paraíso favela district. Hop on a cable car, meet with community leaders, learn about the local life, and see technicolor graffiti-filled walls.

Start your journey with either hotel pickup, or a bus transfer, accompanied by your guide. Arrive at the cable car station and begin your ride up the hill to El Paraiso.

Takin in the panoramic views as your soar over the city. Gaze down at the colorful houses, and get a bird's eye view of the harsh living realities faced by the residents.

After your ascent, head off on a walking tour with your local guide to get a feel for the neighborhood. Wander the bustling avenues, spotting street art among the neon-painted houses and narrow boulevards.

Meet local community leaders in charge of the New Life Foundation, learning about the positive changes that are being put into place to help revitalize this vibrant, yet underserved district. Continue to the best spot for panoramic views over the entire city, then try a traditional Colombian snack to get a feel for local culinary culture. Afterwards, head back down on the cable car, having seen a glimpse into one of Bogotá's most notorious favelas.

An interesting and authentic experience with an excellent guide. You’ll learn a lot about the real Bogota and how it’s cleverly and creatively solving its social problems. Francisco is an excellent guide and was great company on this trip. We always felt safe and his knowledge and strong English skills made it even better.

This tour was one of the best things we did in Bogota. We learned so much about the favelas from Francisco. The great thing is that part of the money go for a NGO in the local community that helps further improve the area. The energy of El Paraiso was mesmerizing, such a colorful neighborhood with very friendly people. We had a local guide with us the whole time and we felt extremely safe. The view from the cable cars is stunning. The tour ends in a local bakery where we tasted some very delicious sweet and savory pastries. Really worth the money.

Learned a lot about the life of the favela inhabitants of Bogota. However, it was also a unique experience in getting to see a different part of city life that you wouldn't normally be exposed to. Francisco was a great guide and had a lot of knowledge to share about the local community and the city itself.
