    Full description
Discover the alternative side of Berlin on a walking tour that takes through the multicultural and trendy Kreuzberg neighborhood. Learn the rich history of this area and see how different cultures collide to give Kreuzberg its unique charm. Follow your guide as they lead you on a historical walk from Platz der Luftbrücke, past the waterfall in Viktoriapark, and through the residential area of western Kreuzberg. Walk by spectacular houses from the beginning of the last century and an imposing housing project referred to as the “Social Palace”. Continue past colorful Turkishs markets, Arabic restaurants and bistros, and chic cafes and boutiques. See the heart of the former SO36 postal district, which is now considered Berlin's punk district. Listen and look as your guide points out the hidden treasure found along the route. Go through Heinrich-Platz and reach the Mariannenplatz where the impressive Bethanien building, a former hospital and now a public art space, is found. Next-door in an area known as Rauchhaus you will learn about Berlin ‘squatters’ history. Then, walk to the Oberbaumbrücke, which symbolically links East and West Berlin and leads to the East Side Gallery.

The city tour was great - informative, fun, varied and entertaining. Since only we had registered at the time, we were able to enjoy the city tour with the guide as an exclusive tour. Many thanks to Mr. Schwabe that he made the tour with us so great and did not cancel due to lack of participants. With this guide again immediately !!! - and the tour is highly recommended :-)

Far from the Kreuzberg in touristic guides

Tobias is a great guide with a lot of knowledges about Berlin in general. We had a really nice tour despite it was really cold. We walked during 2,5 hours and forgot the weather thanks to the numerous stories Tobias gave us. We discovered Kreuzberg in many ways far from "the artists and turkish restaurants" cliché! Urbanism, Architecture, History (and nott only WWII or Cold War), Culture, Arts but also local and nowadays buildings. Tobias is an excellent and very kind guide, which whom you can exchange ideas, remarks or simply ask questions. You will be through Kreuzberg without knowing it could have so many differences in it! Thanks tobias for giving us die Lust Kreuzbeurg mehr zu entdecken!

A great way to broaden one's knowledge

We have been to Berlin on a number of occasions but hadn't really ventured into the west of Kreuzberg. This was remedied in full on Wednesday when we spent over two hours in the company of our personable host. By taking part in such walks you begin to appreciate the different nuances of an area and how history, combined with its inhabitants, both past and present, has shaped architectural styles , local business and political thought. The time flew by due to, not only the pace of the walk, but also due to an ongoing exchange of views. I would have quite liked a brief stop for refreshments but that is being picky. One of the highlights of our visit.
