Full description

Berlin without Potsdam is like Paris without Versailles - leave Berlin without a trip to its royal residence, and you can't say that you've seen it all. Potsdam's fairy-tale landscapes are inviting and playful, and make any walk a delightful experience. Set off with your expert guide to marvel at the impressive architecture of Potsdam's historic city centre. Then, continue through the tree-lined avenues of the famous and impressive UNESCO World Heritage Sanssouci Gardens with decorative fountains, ornate flower beds, and splendid palaces.

From the ridiculous to the impressive, from the ineffective to the mighty, you’ll learn how Prussia rose from a minor European power to the foundation of the German Empire! Discover where Wilhelm II fled Germany at the end of World War I, see the impressive Venetian mosaic in the solemn Church of Peace, and find out just why Germans leave potatoes on Frederick the Great’s grave! Enjoy this relaxed 4 hour trip from Berlin ending right in front of Sanssouci Palace. After that, it's up to you if you want to see more of Potsdam or the Palaces on your own, or accompany your guide back to Berlin.

It was very easy to find the meet up spot since the guides were wearing lanyards and there was a tour sign. Johnny was an attentive and knowledgeable guide for our trip to Potsdam. He made sure everyone had the right train ticket, knew where to go, and was available for any questions. He had many photos printed to help support his stories. Definitely recommend! My tour was about 4 hours round trip from Berlin (10am to around 2pm).

We went with Georgia and she was incredibly knowledgeable in regards to historical events, questions, and tips. I appreciated how welcoming she was to people asking questions. She was kind and interesting to converse with as we had a lot of downtime traveling on the train.

The guide was Georgia, who was informative and entertaining. Despite a very hot day, and having waited for a while since Get my Guide told me the tour started half an hour earlier than it actually did, it was a very enjoyable experience. Georgia was also tremendously helpful, handing out useful information to everyone, and to me personally her help in getting where I needed to go on the return journey was invaluable.
