Full description
Start your walking tour by meeting your guide at Checkpoint Charlie, the former crossing point between East Berlin and West Berlin during the Cold War. Explore the traces of the former border along the Berlin Wall, which marked the divide of two political and social ideologies.
Pass the former Reich’s Ministry of Aviation that today houses the Finance Ministry of Germany. See where Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler gave his first non-public speech in Prussia, back in 1927. Furthermore, visit the Topography of Terror with its excavations of former Gestapo prisons. Here you will see some of the last remaining sections of the Berlin Wall, as well as a public exhibit detailing the rise of Nazism in Germany prior to World War II. Pass by the adjacent Martin Gropius Building with its elaborate architectural decorations. See the seat of Berlin parliament at the Reichstag Building, and the commercial center of Potsdamer Platz.
Reach the location of the Führer Bunker, where Hitler spent the final days of his life and eventually, the sombre Holocaust Memorial. The tour ends at the Brandenburg Gate, a symbol for both Germany's darkest times and its triumphant reunification and progress.
