Experience the green oasis of the Urbanhafen in Berlin, and join locals and tourists on their recreational pursuits with a 3-hour kayak tour along the former boundaries of the notorious Iron Curtain. You will be provided with all kayak equipment to paddle with expert guides along the canal. Glide under the Admiralsbrücke, a perfect example of Berlin’s mix of past and present. Experience Kreuzberg’s multi-cultural flair, passing the Jewish commune on one side, and the Maybachufer, famous for its Turkish Market, on the other. Your guide can provide some history about the Landwehrkanal, planned by the royal landscape architect Peter Joseph Lenné in the 19th century to simulate the curves of a natural river. Glide under the Oberbaumbrücke, Berlin’s most beautiful bridge, with the iconic TV Tower in the background. Kayak around the Osthafen (East Harbor) to experience Berlin’s creative industries. You will also go to the Badeschiff, a pool in the River Spree. You will kayak to the famous Molecule Man sculpture and then turn around to return to the departure point of the tour in Kreuzberg.

We were part of a large group (maybe 30 people) on a sunny day in August with two guides. They split the group between English- and German-speaking people, and then combined odd groups into pairs so that as many people as possible would be in double-kayaks. The boats and equipment were in good shape, although my wife got a bad blister from a paddle with a rough spot where she was gripping it. The tour takes you east along the canal, stopping a few times to talk about the history of the canal and the surrounding neighborhood. It’s 3 km from the starting point to the lock along the Spree, and then we paddled around a bit in the Spree, and then returned along the same route. Friendly guides; interesting content. I’d done some kayaking in the past, but never for more than an hour or so. About halfway through the tour I realized that three hours of almost continuous kayaking is pretty ambitious for the average person, and wished I’d booked a shorter tour. We had a good time, though.

A very great tour. Above all, you don't need any experience with the kayak. The only thing I didn't like was that most of the time English was spoken, although the tour was also offered in German. You understood a thing or two, but didn't want to keep asking questions. But you can recommend it without hesitation. It's really fun too.

Well, this was intense, 3 hours of kayaking can be difficult for beginners but the activity is worth taking. The best way to describe this tour is DIY, the guide helps you but you need to be prepared to do a lot by yourself: take the kayak to the water, clean it after the trip, and take back to the car, these are not an easy things since kayak is pretty heavy I liked the guide - very positive and easy going, english command was good to share historical facts and make some jokes. At some point you will feel he talks a lot but you can use this time to rest! Reviews are always matter of the attitude, even if there were some minor issues and discomfort those were nothing in comparison to guide’s hard work I saw, doing the same stuff a couple of times in day with different groups of travellers is really heavy! So please try to give a hand to him! Enjoy your summer PPL
