Day 1: Bentota-Weherahena-Yala Upon starting your journey at 4:00 AM from your hotel in Bentota, you will be met by your designated chauffeur guide. After exchanging formalities at your hotel, you will be escorted to your air-conditioned vehicle in which you will proceed to Yala. En-route, visit the Mirissa fisheries harbor, and partake in a whale watching tour. Whale watching in Mirissa is one of the most sought-after activities in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is one of the best places to spot blue whales after a short period of time from the harbor. Mirissa is one of the best places to see not only blue whales but also sperm whales and dolphins. Visit Weherahena Poorwarama Raja Maha Viharaya is situated in the Matara District of Sri Lanka, about 6 kilometers from Matara town. This unique temple is known as the first tunnel temple in the world. The temple hosts a massive 130-foot Buddha image that was built following the Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa eras. It also consists of all the main features of a Buddhist temple, such as the pagoda, a sacred bo-tree and a Samadhi Buddha statue. Following this tour, you will proceed to Yala National Park, one of the best national parks in the world to spot leopards. Here you find a large concentration of leopards in a small geographical area. Yala is home to many species of wild animals such as leopards, elephants, crocodiles, and monkeys.  Day 2: Yala-Galle-Hikkaduwa Early in the morning, you will proceed to Yala National Park to go on a lovely jeep safari. Yala National Park is the second largest on this island based off the southeastern coast of Sri Lanka. You will get a chance to see the famous Sri Lankan leopards, indigenous wild water buffalo, Sri Lankan Sloth Bears and large herds of Sri Lankan Elephants. The park is also home to many other species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish and invertebrates. Later, visit the Galle Fortress and Hikkaduwa Beach. Galle Fortress is the best preserved Dutch fort in Asia, and it is one of the 7 UNESCO world heritage sites on the island. The Dutch Fort is a fortified city built in the 1600's and is home to hundreds of houses, palaces, shops, churches, museums, bars, pubs, hotels and much much more. On completion of this day, you will begin your journey back to your hotel in Hikkaduwa.

See wild elephants, crocodiles, and more on a safari in Udawalawe National Park, and discover the historical and cultural history of Galle Fort. Round out the day with a visit to one of the island’s most famous beaches, and learn about exquisite Sri Lankan masks for an activity-filled, full-day tour. Be picked up from your hotel in Bentota or Kalutara in the early morning and drive for around 3.5-hours to Udawalawe National Park. Get up close to spectacular wildlife as you spend 3-hours on a 4x4 jeep safari tour spotting a large array of wild animals in this animal sanctuary. Sightings include wild elephants, crocodiles, jackals, deer, buffalo, and sloth bears. The next stop is Galle Fort, a Dutch fortification and UNESCO World Heritage site. Explore the houses, palaces, galleries, restaurants, cafes, and shops in this historically rich town. Take some time to look at the local stores and find typical Sri Lankan handmade products and souvenirs. From here, head to Unawatuna Beach. Enjoy a swim in the warm water or relax on the beach. Discover the cultural heritage of the island at Ambalangoda, a coastal town famous for its mask making. Visit a mask museum and learn about the meaning of these colorful works of art and their role in traditional dance rituals and festivals. Pass by local fishing villages, harbors, and fish markets and be dropped off at your hotel between 5:00 PM - 5:30 PM.

You'll be picked up from your hotel before heading to Yala National Park, a nature-lovers paradise.  Visit Yala National Park and explore its 126,786 hectares, Yala is famous for its big herds and large numbers of Elephants, Leopards, Spotted Deer, Sambhur, Crocodiles, Mongoose, Wild Boar, Wild Buffalo, and many other animals. Day 1: You will be picked up at 6:00AM from your hotel in Bentota, from where your English-speaking driver/guide will take you to the Sinharaja Rainforest. You'll travel for about 4 hours from your beach hotel, driving through the beautiful countryside en route to your destination. After checking in to your hotel you will be briefed before your Sinharaja trek, which lasts about 4 hours. From there your nature expert will take you through the forest whilst explaining important things to you along the way. On the same day, you will take a village tour throughout which you will also explore farmlands, lakes, temples, and much more. Day 2: Following an early breakfast you will leave for Udawalawe at 6:00AM, from where you will drive for around 2 hours. Day 3: Kitulgala/Sinharaja Leave in the morning for Sinharaja, the last remaining rainforest in Sri Lanka. You’ll trek with a trained forest explorer and experience the untamed wilderness of a natural rainforest. Overnight in Sinharaja. Day 4: Sinharaja/Udawalawe After breakfast leave for the hotel in Udwalawe, where you will enjoy a safari tour by jeep, accompanied by a jungle tracker. You’ll be on the lookout for elephants, bears, deer, monkeys, and maybe spot some leopards too. Overnight in Udawalawe. Day 5: Udawalawe/Bentota Have breakfast at the hotel before departing for a beach hotel in Bentota/Hikkaduwa. Along the way, you’ll stop in Galle, the best-preserved colonial city on the island. Galle is one of Sri Lanka’s ancient seaports and was an anchor point for the Silk Route. The Portuguese later built a fortress on the site and the Dutch fortified it further. Today the fortress is a World Heritage Site. Visit a turtle hatchery that was set up to protect and replenish the turtles that have been nearing extinction. Eggs are gathered and hatched in enclosed areas where the birds can’t reach them. A couple of days after hatching the babies are let out into the sea at night, offering them the best chance of survival. Later you’ll explore the natural wealth of the Maduganga River by motorboat, and see the islands in the wetlands that are largely inaccessible by road. Overnight in Bentota. Day 6: Bentota/Colombo After breakfast at your hotel, you’ll depart for the airport with a stop to visit Colombo. Enjoy a tour of the city’s top sites, and spend some time shopping before heading to Bandaranaike International Airport for your departing flight.

Day 1: Bentota-Nuwara Eliya You will begin your journey at 6:00AM from your hotel in Bentota where you will be met by your friendly chauffeur guide. After exchanging formalities at the hotel, you will be escorted to your air-conditioned vehicle in which you will proceed to Kitulgala, the location for your whitewater rafting. This whitewater rafting adventure activity lasts about 2 hours, after which you will then check in to your hotel. After resting up at your hotel, you will visit a tea factory and receive a guided tour through a tea estate where you will learn more about the varieties, processing methods and qualities of tea. At the completion of this tour, you will return to your hotel to rest for the night. Day 2: Nuwara Eliya-Horton Plains-Bentota Early in the morning you will proceed to the Horton Plains National Park to go on a lovely hike. You will visit the national park in Ohiya, with its mountainous grasslands and cloud forests. You can enjoy the majestic views from the precipice of "World's End", and the cooling sprays from Baker's Falls. Your day will begin with an early morning pick-up at your hotel in Bentota. Then, relax on the 4-hour drive to Udawalawa National Park, created in the 1970s to provide a sanctuary for wild animals displaced by the construction of the Udawalawe Reservoir on the Walawe River. Upon arrival, go for a safari drive by Jeep and look see the thriving Elephant population. Search for other indigenous wildlife, such as Buffalo, Wild Boar and Sambhur. Now the third most visited park in Sri Lanka, Udawalawe is also an important nature reserve for around 50 species of butterflies and many kinds of bird. Enjoy an authentic lunch at a local hotel in Udawalawe, at your own expense. Then, journey back to Bentota and get dropped back at your hotel.

We got to see alot on this tour and had great experiences. Our driver Silva was very nice to us and helpfull. There is quite alot of driving on this tour so that is good to know on beforehand.
