Paris: Belleville Street Art Tour with an Artist

2. Paris: Belleville Street Art Tour with an Artist

Discover Belleville, simply the most famous street art neighborhood in Paris, with the assistance of a guide who has a minimum of 6 years’ experience in street art tours. Explore the area that has been an artists’ destination since the early 1980s when many poor artists moved to live in squats that over the years turned into art galleries, studios, and art communities. Share in an intimate history of how the neighborhood and its street art came to be as they are today. See the area that has been a favorite for many French artists such as Nemo, Jérôme Mesnager, and Philippe Herard and for associations including Art Azoi and Le M.U.R. that often bring international artists to the scene. The artistic community makes this area vibrant and locals are often invited to participate in activities not only in making art, but also in poetry and gardening, too. Learn about the history of street art in Paris and hopefully you will start to recognize some of the most active street artists during the rest of your stay in the city. Since Belleville is the second largest hill in Paris, you’ll also have a wonderful view Paris. Every Saturday, the tour finishes with a live performance and sometimes even a free drink to inaugurate the new wall in the area.

A very entertaining tour of Belleville with Maria as the guide. Her name as an artist is Mapecoo. She tells from her own experience as a street art artist. She has also placed her own work in the streets. She provides background information on street art and graffiti or a mixture thereof. She also tells how a street art artist works. Really very interesting. Besides that you also get to know another part of Paris. You also end up in a very beautiful place with a market of artists and a park with a lot of street art and graffiti. The beautiful view over Paris is on top of that. A top tour. An amazing tour. Have fun when you make the tour, because that is assured.

We took a bit of a leap on the tour since we knew nothing about Get Your Guide or much about the Belleville area, but both worked out terrifically well. Can’t rave enough about the guide, Severine, who was organized, knowledgeable, energetic, enthusiastic, friendly, and just downright fun. The tour was an interesting blend of food and history, covering a non-touristy area well worth seeing. The behind-the-scenes bakery visit and best of our trip croissants were highlights.

Lucien was a gracious guide and very knowledgeable on the cemetery but also the history of the period. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour.

anecdotes galore, humor you want some, first-hand people information, in short, a highly recommended guided tour

Kasia's knowledge and passion are infectious! Fantastic afternoon!
