Full description
The tour starts at 8:30 AM from your accommodation in Belgrade. A pleasant 2-hour drive will take you to the first stop, Golubac Fortress, located at the entrance of the Djerdap Gorge where the Danube is at its widest and nature is at its greenest. It was built at the beginning of the 14th century as a border stronghold of strategic importance. Hat Tower, formerly used as a pier of the Fortress, nowadays is the main symbol and trademark of Golubac Fort. Tour continues with a one-hour drive through the picturesque Djerdap Gorge with short stops on the way for taking memorable pictures. Your tour will start from Tekija and will last for one hour. While on your fun-filled speed boat tour along the most beautiful part of the Danube river, see the remains dating back to Romans, such as Trajan's Plaque (Tabula Traiana) - a memorial dedicated to Roman Emperor Trajan. This unique monument can be seen only from boats (water). On your adventurous boat tour, see the Mrakonija Monastery, Balloon Stations Pena and Varnica, and Stone Statue of Decebal Rex, the last king of Dacia, which represents the tallest rock sculpture (40 meters) in the whole of Europe. When your boat adventure is finished, proceed to the city of Donji Milanovac, where a break for lunch will be made and you will have the great opportunity to try local specialties. Lepenski Vir - an archeological site located nearby, which represents one of the oldest urban settlements in the whole of Europe, populated 8000 years ago is next on your route. On your way back to Belgrade, make one more short stop to see the Boljetinska river canyon, significant from the aspect of the geo-heritage protection, since the complete geological history of Serbia from Paleozoic to Cenozoic, can be observed in it. Return to Belgrade in the early evening hours, drop-off at your accommodation.

We had a great day with our guide Nina and our driver Bogdan! Bogdan was a great driver who knew every shortcut and got us safely from A to B. Nina was able to tell us a lot about the area and was able to answer every question. I would do this tour again and again!

The trip started a bit late due to some delay from one of the group members. But the guide Jelena and the driver Bogdan more than made up for it. They were extremely pleasant, had great manners and ensured that there were no compromises on the tour. Jelena is a rockstar and is a perfect tour guide. Her ability to mix with people of different cultures makes her immensely likeable. The tour itself was excellent with the highlight been the speed boat ride at the Gorge. highly recommended!!!
