1. From Belfast: Causeway Express Tour Shore Excursion

This tour, specially created for cruise ship passengers, will cover some of the area's best sites, including Belfast City Hall and the International Peace Wall. Heading up inland, visit the Dark Hedges made famous by Game of Thrones TV Series, which is a romantic, atmospheric, tunnel-like avenue of intertwined beech trees planted in the 18th century. Next, head to Dunluce Castle for a photo stop. The iconic ruin of Dunluce Castle bears witness to a long and tumultuous history. First built on the dramatic coastal cliffs of north County Antrim by the MacQuillan family around 1500, the earliest written record of the castle was in 1513. Last but not least, you'll see the Giant's Causeway, an area of around 40,000 interlocking basalt columns - the result of an ancient volcanic eruption.

Belfast Shore Excursion: Giant's Causeway and Belfast Tour

2. Belfast Shore Excursion: Giant's Causeway and Belfast Tour

The tour begins with a scenic drive through the Glens of Antrim to the North Coast of Ireland. It is truly breathtaking with rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, and wonderful views of Scotland. Ample time is given at the incredible Giant's Causeway, a famous World Heritage Site. It is a 20-minute walk from the drop-off point to the Causeway site or a shuttle bus operates for a small charge. The hexagonal basalt rocks really look like they were manmade, and this leads the people in Ireland to believe they were carved by Ireland's most famous Giant Warrior, the great Finn MacCoole. Stop for one of the most impressive photo opportunities in Ireland, the magnificent Dunluce Castle. Part of this impressive ruin crumbled into the sea in the 1600s. This castle is connected to the mainland by a bridge and was once the stronghold of the McDonnell clan. In the afternoon you return to Belfast City for a sightseeing tour that takes in the highlights of this vibrant city, including City Hall, the River Lagan, Queens University, St Anne's cathedral, and Prince Albert memorial Clock.

Our guides were excellent Brian and Paddy. They were very informative. I learned so much about the Irish History. Pro's: Pro's great way to see most of the country and learn about the history from a professional. Everything was included as far as tickets, hotels and breakfast. I enjoyed being with other travelers and we made lasting friendships. Cons: We are on a schedule and so could not spend as much time as we wanted at some of the sights and venues. Lunch place was always predetermined so you were stuck going only to their choice. Most places were pretty good by average cost of the meals were 40-50 Euros per couple. It would have been nice to have a day off in the middle to rest a bit. Overall it was a great way to see the country for the first time.

The tour was well organized- our guides met us every step of the way and ensured comfort and safety. The planned days went smoothly. It can be hard to be on the bus when you would like to stop for more photos! Reserved first class train seats were appreciated. The chosen hotels were nice, clean, comfortable and well located. The food was good. We really enjoyed the other travelers in our group. This is a nice way to see Ireland for the first time.

Despite not knowing English, the driver has been telling us the departure time of each stop. It has been very good for us to be able to use the translator in conversation mode. In this way we have understood the explanations.

The ship was late docking - Allen’s Tours was there waiting for us !! Benn was great- he kept us informed & laughing at the same time - we saw so much in one day it was jam packed - it was a great time

It was great. We thank Brian who was our Guide the first 3 days, in a very good mood and very interesting. this excursion really allowed you to discover all of Ireland
