Full description
See two of China's most spectacular attractions, the Great Wall of China and the Ming Tombs on this full-day bus tour from Beijing. Visit one of the best preserved sections of the Great Wall, and explore the fascinating Chang Ling Tomb. Beijing has been home to more than five feudal dynasties, and 13 of the 16 Ming emperors have their tombs situated just outside the city. Explore the earliest and largest of the excavated burial sites, the Chang Ling Tomb, which dates from the year 1413. Starting from November 1, 2019, visit the Underground Palace, Ding Ling, instead of Chang Ling. Before lunch, visit a jade factory for about 45 minutes. There, will see some craftsman carving the jade on the spot. After a traditional Chinese lunch it's on to the Great Wall of China. The image of China throughout the world, the Great Wall lives up to its reputation as one of the world's greatest structures. Hike for approximately 2 hours or alternatively ride the cable car. The highest point at Badaling is some 800 meters above sea level. On the way back to your hotel, you will have a chance to enjoy a Chinese traditional Tea Ceremony for about 40 minutes, tasting various types of tea.

YoYo our guide was great. She made sure we would get a great tour with the best conditions as not having to wait in queue. The bus came very punctual and was small and comfortable. We enjoyed the jade store and tea ceremony as well because they were quite informative. Apparently the Badaling Great Wall section is the only one you are able to see the wall going far in a few directions. I definitely recommend this section as it’s stunning.

My lucky day - jsut me, the driver and the tour guide

I was lucky to be the only person doing this tour that day - so we had a VW limo instead a van. Nevertheless, Bob, the tour guide, spent all his attention to me, explaining all details, as for group, off course mor personalized. At the Great Wall I had about 90 minutes for myself. Cable car was out of service, due to strong winds. I decided for the "left part" (more steep) and enjoyed. After Badaling we went for lunch in jade factory (actually I do not like those shopping tours, but they are part of allmost all tours). After that, we visited the chang ming tombs. On the way back we had a stop (I guess also common for all other tours) at a tea house. Because I was alone on the tour, we we a bit ahead the schedule back to hotel, which was not bad, as we saved a lot of time, beeing one person only. All in all a perfect day (considered, that I normally do not go for package tours, but had a private guide in fact).

The Ming tombs were neglected, for example, you couldn't see a single one, just a kind of vestibule. The bus ride to the Great Wall got stuck in the traffic jam. The last kilometers had to be covered on foot, in a violent march / express march, which only 4 participants (including myself) could follow, who then made it to the wall - but only for 20 minutes before the wall was closed.
