This wine tour was an absolute delight! My wife and I love wine from Burgundy, so the opportunity to tour and taste was something we couldn't miss. Our guide, Antonin, was absolutely phenomenal! His knowledge of wine and of Burgundy in particular is extremely nuanced - he explained to us how the region is organized, how to interpret Burgundy wine labels, highlighted major differences between vineyards/villages in terms of wine taste/terroir, and much more. During the tastings with Antonin, discussing the nose, bouquet, and the wine's development was so much fun - I still remember nailing down descriptions of particular notes we were all picking up, sharing stories, and having lots of laughs. My wife and I both felt as though all three of us had been friends for a long time even though we had just met. The tours themselves were beautiful and fascinating - the guides were very kind! The tastings were very generous - we must have tasted 20 wines, ranging from villages to grand cru!
This was a perfect way to see more of Burgundy/Beaune and to learn more about the wines from this district. We were only 8 persons in the group which is a perfect size for a private guided tour. The tour we biked was beautiful, through vine yards and castles. The bikes were also perfect and our guide Eric was good at explaining and gave a lot of useful information which inspired us. The wine tasting in two different vine castles were professional and well arranged. We thought that the price was quite high, but lunch was also included (except wine for lunch) and the tastings we got was of a good quality, which makes the cost for this tour reasonable! We are really happy that we decided to go on this tour, it was one of the best days on our whole vacation!
Ivan picked us up from the hotel and discussed the plan for the day which was tailored to our interests. He took us to some amazing places and explained the importance of them. He introduced us to a host of interesting vignerons who let us taste some of the most amazing wines. Ivan helped us to ship our choice of these treasures home. He took us to cosy restaurant in Givry Chambertain for lunch and it was a great joy to eat there. We learnt a great deal from Ivan who was a local and was very personable and friendly. It was the highlight of our trip and highly recomend this experience to anyone who wants to discover the real Bougogne.
We had a wonderful time on the bike tour through the Bourgogne vinyards. Our guide was very knowledgeable and did everything to make us comfortable, even with the weather not cooperating all the time (rain). The castle we saw was neat, and we got to taste plenty of different wines as well as had a great lunch. I am so glad we got to experience Burgundy this way.
Ricky was an excellent guide, wealth of knowledge about area and local wine production. Meal at local restaurant was excellent. 2 wineries we did tastings at were great representation of the area. My only concern is the description of the bike riding. There were some pretty steep hills in the beginning. Great day all around.
