Your train will climb steadily through the Alps, passing glacial lakes and staggering rock faces. The view from the train is one of the best in the world, offering a birds eye view of this epic area. The journey to “the top of Europe” will include the opportunity to take in the stunning view from Eismer Station, the second highest railway station in the world after the Jungfraujoch. Back on the train the sights only get better, as you reach an elevation of 3,466 metres approaching Jungfraujoch. The station is perched on a glacier saddle on the upper snows of the Aletsch Glacier and is a must-visit for anyone interested in the Alps. The icy air will provide welcome refreshment as you explore the viewing platform, discovering the many ice sculptures and frosty vistas dotted around the area. Next, you will head to Interlaken, weaving your way through the small town of Wengen, whose views are as mesmerizing as they are legendary. Watch as rocky climbs give way to lush Alpine valleys, and the skyline rises and falls along with the surrounding peaks. Your ride will pause at Lauterbrunnen, a valley town set within dramatic rock faces and epic waterfalls. Here we will take a walk to the iconic Staubbach Falls, whose water drops a whopping 297 meters from the overhanging cliffs to the pool below. The sight of the water dissolving to spray as it falls is striking. Our guide will share the stories behind the falls, and you will have the opportunity to take photos of the stunning surroundings. Set between twin glacier-fed lakes, the bustling town of Interlaken is a hub of activity, surrounded by stunning alpine scenery. Begin your tour by meeting your guide at the hotel and make your way together to the train station in Basel. An intercity train takes you within 2 hours to Interlaken, where you change to the local train. After 20 minutes, you will arrive at Lauterbrunnen, a small village at the end of the valley. While you change the train, have a look at the famous "Staubbach" waterfall. The cogwheel railway from Lauterbrunnen to Kleine Scheidegg takes 35 minutes, passing Wengen, a small alpine town known for winter sports and the annual FIS world cup downhill race. At Keine Scheidegg at 6600 ft above sea level, you will change onto the Jungfrau railway, which will take you within 40 minutes to the top. During the ride, the train will stop once in the middle of the tunnel for a scenic stop, where you will get off the train for 5 minutes.  Once you arrive at Jungfraujoch, your tour guide will lead you through the attractions of this destination. The walking tour will take approximately 1 hour inside the tunnel system. The sightseeing tour is protected from the weather outside and easily accessible. At the Sphinx Terraces and in good weather conditions, you may see the Black Forest in Germany. Visit the "Alpine Sensation" exhibition, a tribute to the construction work of the Jungfrau railway. You will continue through the ice cave to the plateau, a charming place outside in the middle of the snow. The walk around will be finished by passing the chocolate heaven from "Lindt", a small exhibition about chocolate making in Switzerland. According to your preferences, you may have lunch at one of the 3 restaurants at Jungfraujoch. Your tour guide will be happy to assist you and to join you for lunch. Admire the views of mountain peaks all around you. Then hop back on the Jungfrau railway for the descent to Kleine Scheidegg. From here, you will travel on the route to Grindelwald, where the tour guide can make an optional stop. The local train takes you within 40 minutes back to Interlaken with a connection to the intercity train to Basel, and finally back to your hotel.

Learn how the region produces around 48 wheels a day, all of which undergo a rigorous inspection by Gruyères AOP before they are allowed to be sold with the official label. After the demonstration, it’s time to indulge your taste buds. Learn to recognize and appreciate the full-bodied, nutty flavor of authentic Gruyères as you sample the cheese straight from the wheel. Next, a short scenic hike will bring us to the delightful town of Gruyere, birthplace of the iconic sweet and salty cheese which shares its name. Nestled within the picturesque Fribourg canton, this medieval town is bursting with rustic charm. Explore the maze of cobblestone pathways, glimpsing panoramic views of the surrounding countryside as you make your way to the hilltop Castle of Gruyères. This stunning fortress dates back to the 13th century, and was once home to the notorious Counts of Gruyères. This legendary cocoa wonderland was created by the grandfather of Swiss chocolate, François-Louis Cailler, whose secret ingredients remain in use today. His iconic chocolate is famous for its rich, creamy flavor, achieved by using condensed milk rather than the standard milk powder used in most other brands. Master chocolatiers will show you how to craft your own unique box of truffles, using foolproof ganache techniques. Take your chocolates home, or eat them on the train! After a full day of food and adventure, it's time to head back Your guide will ensure you have a comfortable journey back to Basel.

10. Mount Pilatus with Lake Cruise Private Tour from Basel

Start your tour with pickup at your accommodation and make your way to the train station in Basel. An intercity train will take you in 1 hour to central Lucerne, where you'll board a boat for a 1-hour cruise on Lake Lucerne. Enjoy the view of the surrounding mountains and and the waterfront of the city.  Arrive in Alpnachstad, where you'll switch to the cogwheel railway. The Pilatus railway operates between May and October and is the world's steepest cogwheel railway. The 35-minute journey takes you from 464 meters above sea level to the top of Mount Pilatus, at 2128 meters above sea level. At the top, your tour guide will show you some hidden military objects. Alternatively, you can climb up the stairs to the panoramic platform and enjoy the vast scenery. Your tour guide will take you through the gallery of dragons and tell you a myth about Mount Pilatus.  After the sightseeing tour, enjoy lunch in one of the two restaurants, where your tour guide will happily join you. Afterwards, take some free time to spend as you wish before you begin your descent. A panoramic gondola will take you down to Fräkmüntegg, where you will change to the 4-seat gondola. This section takes you above trees and meadows and down to the suburb Kriens. Head back to central Lucerne for your return trip back to Basel on an intercity train. Once back in Basel, your tour guide will accompany you to your accommodation.

We were very lucky, as Mount Pilatus was full of clouds, however, when we reached the top, the clouds gave us a break. Wonderful tour and very friendly guide. It's a shame we don't have time to explore the mountain more. But this tour is well worth it.

It was a very pleasant day. Our guide Abraham was very knowledgeable. He did not find the need to talk nonstop. We never felt rushed and did what we wanted to do. Thankyou for this great experience

Everything went very smoothly. Check the weather to be sure it will be relatively clear so you get good views. This trip is mostly about the views from the top.
