Anna did amazing with the time she had. However I would advise against the afternoon tour since time is limited and rushed. But the Montserrat is an experience to live and if you can go there on your own, do it. 2 hours isn’t enough. Take the cog wheel train up and just take in everything from the views to the air and the history.

It started on time. From Barcelona to Montserrat via an air-conditioned bus and ride was comfortable. It was a combined English and Spanish tour group. The guide when narrating seems like reading and needs more enthusiasm but he tried his best to answer questions. When we arrived in Montserrat, there was a short walking tour and was very interesting and informative. Later we were taken to the church and we were on our own to get inside the church for the viewing of the Black Madonna. It was a quick viewing as there were a long line, but worth it. Eventually, we had opportunity to explore the place on our and did the wine tasting. For wine tasting, do not expect much. Bought round trip ticket and took the "tram" to go uphill . It was a fun ride. Up hill, a lot were doing the hike. We did short walk to enjoy the view, It was breathtaking. At the end of the trip, we were given a small pendant with the pic of the Madonna engraved in it. For me, it was a perfect souvenir.

I wish hotel pick up was included because it cost a lot to get a taxi to and from the bus station. The restroom was nasty at the bus station. When we finally got there the actual Monserrat was amazing! I wish there was more to do on our free time there- everything else was an addition charge. The museum should be part of this expensive tour! Another issue was the bus was hot - we were told they couldn’t turn it on until everyone got on and time to leave.
