Full description

Explore the stunning landscapes of the Costa Brava on a full-day tour to Girona from Barcelona. Depart the Catalan capital for the city of Girona, where the remains of its Roman and medieval past make an interesting contrast to the present-day city.

Get lost in a maze of narrow streets, and venture into the best-preserved Jewish Ghetto in Europe. Admire the cathedral, home to the widest Gothic nave in the world. Marvel at the brightly colored houses on the banks of the Onyar River. Then, transfer to the breathtaking landscapes and villages of the Costa Brava, stopping at the medieval village of Pals en route.

Stroll down cobblestone streets, and enjoy some of the best panoramas of the Mediterranean Sea whipped up by the fierce Tramontana wind. Marvel at the fields and plains of Empordà extending to the horizon. Discover dramatic views of the Catalan coast, surrounded by green mountains, sheer cliffs, and small villages of whitewashed houses. Stop in the traditional fishing village of Calella de Palafrugell, and feel as if you have been transported back to yesteryear. Explore the pristine landscape of Calella, and discover the ancient pathways of the Caminos de Ronda.

Once used by fishermen, watchmen and smugglers, these paths allow you to explore the virgin coast at your leisure, where you will discover popular beaches and inaccessible coves and cliffs. Take a dip in crystal clear water, surrounded by unspoiled nature.

First, thank you Mateo for an incredible day. Mateo picked us up at our hotel at 8:15. We added two more groups of English speakers for a total of 8 which was very comfortable in Mateo’s van, and proceeded to Girona. For Game of Thrones fans, two major scenes were filmed here and it’s easy to see why. So incredibly beautiful. Truly, I thought this would be the highlight of the trip but then we went to Pals. I’ve never seen such a picture perfect beautiful medieval town. From there we ended in the cliff side town of Palamos with its postcard worthy white cliff hanging houses before returning to Barcelona precisely at 5:30. Mateo was a wealth of information not only on the history of the areas we visited, but also Spain and Catalonia life and culture. I would recommend this trip without hesitation.

A very fruitful day with visit to Girona, Costa Brava and a small village called Pals. Our guide Anatoli was informative and helpful, and was familiar with the history and background of every spot. Free time was given in Girona and Costa Brava where we could walk around, had lunch and took some really good pictures. Slightly rush in some spots but it is understandable as the three locations are quite far away from Barcelona downtown. Almost impossible to go to all the locations in one day by train or bus, but with a local tour it is feasible. Would recommend to anyone who wishes to explore as much rural Catalonia as possible but with a tight schedule.

This was an amazing day trip on the final day of our vacation. Our guide Manu picked us up at our apartment in Barcelona at 8:20am. Manu was an excellent guide and very personable. The first stop was in Girona. We toured the Jewish quarter and many sites where Game of Thrones scenes were filmed. Then we stopped at a small coffee shop to grab some coffee and pastries. We headed back to the van to go to our next destination. The small village of Peratallada. We walked around the carved stone streets and stopped at small shop to sample Vermouth and Wine. Then we headed to the coast to Costa Brava. We took some amazing photos from a scenic viewpoint overlooking the town and then ate lunch at a restaurant with delicious seafood. Manu made sure we were well taken care of the entire time and got us back safely to our apartment by 6pm. I highly recommend this trip to anyone that enjoys Medieval and beautiful coastal towns.
