Full description
Make your first stop of the day in Montserrat, Catalonia’s most emblematic mountain. Topped by a Benedictine Monastery, Montserrat is an ideal half-day trip to spend a fun day in nature, just a few kilometers away from Barcelona. On the way to the monastery, on-board a luxury minibus, admire the Massif of Montserrat, a spectacular multi-peaked rocky range packed of unique needle-shaped formations. Upon arrival, visit the monastery founded in the 10th century, still functioning to this day with over 70 monks. It is also well-known for hosting the figure of La Moreneta (visit dependent on availability), who is the patron saint of Catalonia. Your guide will bring the past alive by explaining the history and ventures of this monastery dating back nearly a thousand years. Next, head to a nearby equestrian center, located at the foothill of the Massif. Get ready for a thrilling horseback ride along the national park, offering breathtaking views of Montserrat, an entertaining and original way to discover the Catalan landscape. Learn how to communicate with your horse, learn the basics of grooming, saddling and practice your riding skills as you enjoy the freedom and tranquility of the countryside. Led by experienced guides, the route is suitable for everyone. Enjoy the ride and the spectacular sights of the mountain. Then, return back to Barcelona.

The ride was a great contrast program to the hustle and bustle of the city. the stay in and at the monastery was very short. I would have liked to sit for a moment and drink coffee, but there was no time for that. The guide, Adria was very knowledgeable, knowledgeable and has any questions answered.

Magical Horse Riding Experience with Stunning Views of Montserrat!

Absolutely amazing experience! Every minute was worth it! Highly recommend this to anyone wanting to visit Montserrat - this is the best way to experience the city! Beautiful views throughout the scenic countryside - pictures are no justice. The horse riding was my favourite part of the day - all the horses were stunning and exceptionally calm to ride. It is even applicable for beginners - this was only my second time actually riding a horse and I was extremely comfortable. Overall, a very knowledgable tour guide with interesting stories and history of Montserrat was given throughout the day. Loved it!!

Not quite as expected, but worth the experience

The description caused me to think that we would be riding horses up to a monastery or at least riding horses a lot longer than we actually did (only 1 hour approximately out of the 5 committed for this trip). I honestly just wanted to ride horses, but it ended up being half and half of the 5 hour day. All in all, I'm glad I did this tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and I loved the background history he gave us of Barcelona while travelling out to the monastery. I wouldn't expect getting any reasonable amount of time to shop at the monastery gift shop and bakery, and I'm not sure if I would suggest this trip if you really want to ride horses.
