Full description

Explore the stunning landscapes of the Costa Brava on a full-day tour to Girona from Barcelona. Depart the Catalan capital for the city of Girona, where the remains of its Roman and medieval past make an interesting contrast to the present-day city.

Get lost in a maze of narrow streets, and venture into the best-preserved Jewish Ghetto in Europe. Admire the cathedral, home to the widest Gothic nave in the world. Marvel at the brightly colored houses on the banks of the Onyar River. Then, transfer to the breathtaking landscapes and villages of the Costa Brava, stopping at the medieval village of Pals en route.

Stroll down cobblestone streets, and enjoy some of the best panoramas of the Mediterranean Sea whipped up by the fierce Tramontana wind. Marvel at the fields and plains of Empordà extending to the horizon. Discover dramatic views of the Catalan coast, surrounded by green mountains, sheer cliffs, and small villages of whitewashed houses. Stop in the traditional fishing village of Calella de Palafrugell, and feel as if you have been transported back to yesteryear. Explore the pristine landscape of Calella, and discover the ancient pathways of the Caminos de Ronda.

Once used by fishermen, watchmen and smugglers, these paths allow you to explore the virgin coast at your leisure, where you will discover popular beaches and inaccessible coves and cliffs. Take a dip in crystal clear water, surrounded by unspoiled nature.

The tour was good, Andre the tour guide is very knowledgeable and took us to the town of Girona and Pals. We enjoyed the walk in those towns and Andre described the history very well. Andre also took us to a restaurant in the countryside where the food served was very good and the hostess was very kind, attentive. The only downside for us was that we were given only 15 minutes to go to the beach at Calella. On our request it was increased to half an hour but Andre said that we have a long journey back to Barcelona so we shouldn't be too long. This was disappointing as we expected some activity at the shore in this Costa Brava tour. The advertisement said that we should bring swimwear so we were really looking forward to some beach activity. 15 minutes or even half an hour is not enough as you also need to allow time for change, shower etc. I'd suggest that instead of spending 3 hours at the restaurant some time should be allocated for spending by the sea side. Otherwise it was good.

The guide, Tony, was great - except he forgot his phone and had to borrow ours throughout the day for directions and other needs. It was VERY difficult to hear Tony sitting in the back seat of the van - a microphone would have been EXTREMELY useful! In addition, the tour felt rushed - with insufficient time to really see/do what was shown to us. This could have been resolved by adding just another 60-90 minutes to the overall time of the tour.

Had an amazing day trip to Girona, the medieval town of Pals and then Llafranc beach. Gaspar was our tour guide and was excellent in every way. He communicated clearly and in advance about our pick up time at the hotel. The van seated our group of 8 comfortably and was air conditioned. Gaspar was very knowledgeable about the history of all three places we visited. After his walking tours in Girona and Pals, Gaspar gave us solo time in each location. He is very respectful of the locals who live in the places we visited which I appreciated. We ended the day with our visit to the beach. We were able to enjoy 2 hours of free time before heading back to Barcelona. I would highly recommend this excursion and I wouldn’t change a thing. It was very much a highlight of my stay in Barcelona. Gracias!
