We met our guide in the heart of Barcelona at the Travel Bar. The Travel Bar at this time of the year was closed, so we called and received immediate verification that our guide would be there. The dancing was absolutely first rate with the flamenco musicians and dancers in perfect stride. After the show we were escorted down winding streets to a tapas bar. We enjoyed sangria with the other participants and they brought out fresh tapas for us to enjoy. There were at least five different types of tapas provided with the last one--a skewered chicken with cardamom that was to die for! My fellow traveler, Joan actually took the last skewer home with her and had it for breakfast the next day! Our guide left early but the restaurant took good care of us and offered dessert "tapas." The location is difficult if trying to navigate with GPS, so give yourself enough time to get there on time. The shops in this area are plentiful so you can be sure to do a little shopping on the way or after.
We were met by the lovely Daniella at the agreed time and place , and from that moment she explained the history of flamenco and took us on a wonderful tour around the streets till we arrived at the Royal Square where the flamenco show would take place, and also explaining the history of the square. After an amazing show we met Daniella outside the venue when she took us on another tour this time around Gaudi studios again she was so knowledgeable and made this experience so memorable. From there we arrived at the Tapas bar to say the food was fantastic was an understatement ,even there Daniella explained the history of tapas .if any of you are thinking of doing this I would well recommend it and if you are lucky enough you may get the wonderful Daniella who went above and beyond what we were expecting
This tour was amazing. You meet your group, then do a mini walking tour of Barcelona on the way to the theatre. The actual theatre is very intimate and there is not a bad seat in the place. You can pay for drinks there (very reasonable 10 euro 0.5L sangria). The actual show is excellent, a very authentic experience. Afterwards, you walk to a restaurant where they give you tapas and unlimited Sangria. Both were excellent and they give you so much food!!! They would have kept it coming if we wanted more but we were stuffed. If you’re in Barcelona, do this tour!! You get more than your money’s worth!!!
Met up outside the travel bar with our tour guide and was guided through the gothic quarter to the flamenco venue. Having a guide meant we could get fast track into the venue and got great seats near the front of the stage. After the show, our guide took us to a tapas bar where we were served a range of tapas that were all very delicious including different meats, cheese, prawns etc. and a jug of sangria to top it all off. Overall we had a lovely experience while being immersed in the Catalan culture in the city of Barcelona with our guide Alex.
The flamenco show was a truly amazing experience. My date and I were in the front row close to the performers. The singing and the dancing were very entertaining. The dancers were energetic and dramatic in the performance. The costumes were very colorful. I could have enjoyed a longer program but what was there was vivid and polished. My date is of Hispanic heritage and I studied the Spanish culture at two universities so we had expectations of the performance. They were met very nicely.
