Head down to the Olympic Port in Barcelona, on your own or with friends, for 1 hour of paddle surfing in the Mediterranean! Stand up paddle surfing, also known as paddle boarding, is a popular watersport that originated in Hawaii as an offshoot of windsurfing. You’ll surf on a large, stable board using a paddle, with equipment provided. It's much easier than windsurfing and anyone can learn! If it’s your first time, the tour provider’s staff will teach you the basic techniques before you head out into the water. Although it’s not as physically demanding as windsurfing it's still a great workout.

Know before you go

Be sure to wear comfortable clothes and bring a towel and a change of clothing.
In the spring and summer, you’ll need to bring a cap and suntan cream for protection from the sun.
In the fall and winter, you should wear a wetsuit and a windbreaker (available for rent from the operator).

... the introduction to paddling was short and sweet and then it was time to try it out. On the water we were alone with other beginners, which wasn't a problem. Unfortunately it was a bit difficult to find the venue beforehand, but once we were on the water that was quickly forgotten...

We spent ages looking for the meeting point at the port because the directions were very vague and the "emergency" contact phone number was just not available. When we found the location we were given very brief instructions and after that we didn't see any of the staff. It was very windy that day, which made it very dangerous to even go into the water, which strange bathers pointed out to us after we came ashore through the violent waves. For us it was the first time in paddle surfing, so it was very disappointing that no one enlightened us better how dangerous the situation is and what exactly we should do. On a windless day and if you have possibly informed yourself beforehand, it is certainly a very nice experience.
