Gang was a great guide that spoke english well. Before the trip, i contacted the vendor to ask if a friend could keep me company since i was the only one that wanted to get the tattoo. The tour manager was nice to offered my friend to join the tour with bo additional charge. Gang came to pick us up early and allowed us to stop to get breakfast before we continued our trip. The temple is very beautiful and peaceful in the morning, air was crisp. Gang stayed beside me making sure i understood everything and knew what to do. The whole trip went by quickly and we were back at our hotel in no time.
Overall, the experience was good. The tattoo was done by an ajarn, who wasn't a buddhist monk, which in my opinion loss some of the spirituality part of it. The tattoo was done in about 25 minutes. The guide was at my hotel around 6 am and we waited for one more person. Ended up waiting at the temple for 30-45 minutes waiting for the ajarn to show up. Once the tattoo was done, we went to the ordination hall for a monk to bless it and then headed back to the city.
My guide Gang was very friendly and polite. She was very prompt when she picked me up at me hotel and had a Get Your Guide sign which helped me see who she was instantly. She showed me some temples and palaces on the way to Wat Bang Phra. We got there early enough for me to be the second person to receive the Sak Yant. The hole trip was about 4 hrs. 6am-10am. Make sure you have a snack with you.
guide was punctual. could have been more english-fluent. picked up one other person. ride was nice. only a little waiting. no one else was at the temple. tattoo was of lower quality than expected (it is done very quickly and on a stencil), but this promotes uniformity. you are unlikely to be able to get anything unique. blessing by monk is legit and everyone is very friendly.
it was overall a great experience. Gang was so helpful and instrumental in communication and informing us of the traditions and what to do and when to do it. As with anything else, be informed. I'd recommend doing some reading on the practice of the holy tattooong process so you know what you're signing up for :). This was an amazing experience.
