Full description
Get a deeper understanding of Thai cuisine and culture, a belly full of delicious food, and memories of a historic area in Bangkok rarely visited by outsiders. Hop aboard one of the klong boats for a scenic cruise along the canals. Get an insight into life in Bangkok as your guide tells you stories and anecdotes about the buildings you pass. Hop off for a bowl of old-style Hokkien noodles from a popular restaurant. Savor the thick udon noodles smothered in a rich beef or pork stew and learn about the origins of this famous dish. After, navigate the old streets, stopping for the best banana fritters in town cooked up in a local home-style kitchen factory. Dive into one of Bangkok's oldest markets which has been serving up dishes to locals since 1899. Here, visit the best stalls and delve into another dozen dishes, like crispy catfish salads, fresh spring rolls with cured sausage and pickles, freshwater fish steamed curry topped with coconut cream, and more mouth-watering bites. Between courses, enjoy a guided tour of the area and learn about local life in this peaceful part of Bangkok. See the wooden remains of the city's oldest silent cinema and discover why this was once the entertainment district. Then, say goodbye to your fellow guests at the market. Your guide will help direct you back to your hotel or find transport for you should you wish.

Annie and Cham were wonderful guides! They took us to tons of super local spots where we tried delicious dishes we’d never heard of and probably would never have otherwise tried. The group size was small, which was nice and the boat ride was fun. Annie provided tons of historical and cultural context of Thailand and we felt like we came away from the tour understanding more about the country.

We had a great time tasting the different food. Guide was knowledgeable, enthusiastic & passionate about food. She was ever so forth coming with information as well as her own cooking experience. Organization was also very efficient as the assistant will get ready while the guide was doing the explanation. Thank you Phon (hope the spelling is right) for an unforgettable experience. Minor point: it was stated that max size was 8, however we had 9. So in terms of seating, it got a bit tight at some places. Food waste was another issue we had. Some places, there were too much food. Suggest that the food portion be reduced on first serving while letting participants know that there are seconds if required. This will reduce unnecessary food wastage, at the same time ensure that everyone can eat to their fill.

We did the tour today - our impressions are therefore still very fresh. Meeting point well described. Tour guide very nice and accommodating. The food is excellent, you get a lot of explanations and it costs a lot that you wouldn't get or cost otherwise. The tour is not cheap but worth every euro.
