From Galway: Aran Islands Day Trip & Cliffs of Moher Cruise

1. From Galway: Aran Islands Day Trip & Cliffs of Moher Cruise

Take a day trip to Inisheer (Inis Oirr) from Galway and discover the ancient churches and castles on the smallest of the Aran Islands. Visit the Cliffs of Moher and admire the coastal scenery. From the meeting point in Galway, get driven south along the Wild Atlantic Way and into the lunar-like Burren region. From there, head to the picturesque fishing village of Doolin where you’ll board the ferry to Inisheer. Once there, explore the island's churches, castles, lighthouses, shipwrecks, cafes, and pubs. Discover one of Ireland's most beautiful beaches and, if you like, take a pony and carriage, hire a bicycle, or stroll the country roads. Stop for a hearty meal at a traditional local pub before arriving at the Cliffs of Moher. You will receive free entry to the cliffs and the eco-sensitive visitor center. Take a stroll along the cliff edge and consider how tiny everything looks from above. Once we depart the Cliffs we travel alongside the edge of Galway Bay which is perhaps the most beautiful coastline in Ireland and is part of the larger, world-renowned Wild Atlantic Way.

I love to do a day trip as it’s such a great way to see all the highlights, with insider tips. This trip was no exception. The bus driver, Tommy, was so sweet and kind and knowledgeable—my favorite of my day trip guides these last few weeks I’ve been in Europe. The trip takes enough breaks that you can walk before too long if you struggle with motion sickness or sitting too long. There were several breaks built in and lots of time at the places you would want it. Short lunch in the pub (which also makes sense as you are there to see Ireland) but at an amazingly tasty pub! I lost my phone at the pub and didn’t realize it until the Cliffs and Tommy was on the phone with the pub, trying to find my phone (they did, thank God!) but what a great crew! Went by myself and made lots of friends and had a blast. Perfect trip—absolutely stunning scenery, comfortable bus (toilet on the bus as well if that is a concern) and wonderful people. Cannot recommend this enough!

If you do this trip, find Micheal Flaherty's horse (Murphy) and trap on Inisheer. Born and raised on the island, he's a treasure and his tour and stories were easily the best and most authentic experience we had in Ireland.

Amazing experience, such beautiful scenery and our guide Dave was awesome and super helpful!! Highly recommended, even if it's raining a bit you'll have a great time

Tommy was funny, knowledgeable and a great driver on some harrowing roads. He looked after us and was flexible with plans changed by weather. Great leader

Amazing trip with a very knowledgeable guide called Dave who kept us entertained the whole time. Can’t recommend enough!
