The Tamang Heritage Trail is open to trekkers after having long been a restricted area due to its location near Nepal’s border with Tibet. Off the beaten track, the area features basic mountain accommodations along with basic Nepali and Tibetan food. Trek to the popular Tamang village where you’ll see ancient gompas, or places for meditation, and Buddhist prayer rocks, set around the village and also along the trail. Detailed Itinerary Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu Upon arrival at the Kathmandu Tribhuwan International Airport, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel. You can meet with tour staff later in the day or the next day for a briefing on the upcoming trek. At the meeting you’ll be introduced to your trekking guide and Sherpa. Depending on the time, you may also be taken to one of the most popular local restaurants for some delicious Nepalese food, cultural music, and ethnic dancing. If you arrive later in the day, you’ll visit the restaurant on the following day. Overnight in Kathmandu. Day 2: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing & Trek Preparation After breakfast you’ll head out on a city tour of Kathmandu to see the main attractions of the valley.
