Full description
Enjoy a half-day whale watching trip in the Azores, one of the ‘top ten’ whale-watching spots in the world, and get the opportunity to meet the ocean giants in their natural habitat. Meet the boat crew and get a short briefing about safety and code of ethics and then put on your life vest and head out in the ocean. Listen as the crew follows the instructions given by radio from the lookouts placed in strategic points along the coastline using military-grade binoculars to find and communicate the position of the animals. Take comfort that the crew has a 99% success rate of sightings. Once whales have been spotted it´s time to enjoy the company of these magnificent animals, always keeping a safe and respectful distance. It´s usual that more than one group of whales and dolphins are observed per trip. On the way back to the marina, observe the geological formations of the island as the boat sails close to the coastline.

Thankfully we were on one of the little Rib boats as the whales etc were hiding! Our skipper was great, trying to find animals for us to see but nature does what it wants. If we had been in the big yellow boat, I may have been disappointed but being in the Rib was an adventure all of its own. We did see common dolphins and false killer whales (another type of dolphin) but whizzing about in the agile little boat was great fun- as long as you don’t get sea sick big thanks to our skipper, she was amazing

We have seen them wild dolphins and sperm whales on catamaran and it was beautiful. Dont forget to take the warm clothes and rainjacket - the ride back to harbour was wild (weather was getting worse) but amazing, people in the front of the boat were soaked but veeery happy. I think ill be back in a few days for another adrenalin ride on the smaller boat xD

The shop (and meeting point) is located on the wharf right across from Hotel Marina Atlântico. Once at the hotel look for a dive shop across the road at the street level and just walk to the left of that shop and then down the steps to the right and you will see your group milling around. If driving you should park as soon as you enter the underground public (pay)lot and find a doorway up.
