Pico Island: Whale Watching Boat Tour with Biologist Guides

1. Pico Island: Whale Watching Boat Tour with Biologist Guides

Lying in the middle of the mystical Atlantic Ocean, the Azores Islands are a permanent home or point of passage for more than a third of the entire world’s whale and dolphin species. Dive into a lifetime adventure with these ancestral creatures during this guided Pico Island whale-watching trip. Away from the masses and close to the desirable peace, you will be the guests to nature guides and marine biologists, certified and, most importantly, sharing the contagious passion for the islands and its fauna and flora. Your adventure starts at Lajes do Pico harbor, where you’ll be welcomed by staff and check-in. Afterward, head to the boat where the marine biologists will give a briefing. Hear about the species you might see, whale watching history in the Azores, as well as how to respect the animals. Then, you’re ready to navigate and look for cetaceans in the wild. On the way, have a look at the coast of the island, full of magical landscapes. Whales live in the deep ocean and some of them simply pass by the waters during their migration. What people are saying about Azores

What a fun time! I am prone to motion sickness so was concerned I would not enjoy this trip, but my symptoms we slight and the views of the whales overcame any anxiety. The guides were wonderful to point out the animals and they kept the animal safety first in mind. 100% would book again.

This excursion was well worth it. The guide Victor was very friendly and informative plus very professional. On our tour we saw whales and a couple dolphin species. Great experience and just the right amount of time. I would highly recommend this tour!!

Very friendly and helpful guides. They showed us around the sea caves and let us snorkel just outside the lagoon, as it was tern breeding season and we weren't allowed to walk on the islet or swim in the lagoon. Great trip!

Great experience, nice and helpful guides; besides kayaking we also learned a bit about the history of Sao Miguel en Vila Franco do Campa. We had a great time and I would recommend this tour to everybody.

Saw two blue whales and 3 species of dolphins amazing morning. Beautiful boat
