Next, you will hit the road towards the King's view, perhaps the most famous viewpoint of Azores and begin to drive into the interior of the volcano, admiring the winding road that leads to the small Santiago Lake. Stop at the Parish of Seven Cities, for a traditional lunch at a typical restaurant and take in the sense of peace and freshness this parish emits. Starter, main course, dessert and coffee drinks are included in this lunch. After lunch is time to leave the interior of this magnificent volcano. Travel to the Escalvado scenic viewpoint where you may admire the village of Mosteiros and Ponta da Ferraria. Contemplating the magnificent road surrounded by hydrangeas, plantains, azaleas and other flowers so characteristic of the Azores. Next, pass the black sand beaches in the direction of the Barrosa Peak, where you can first view the Fire Lake and the most western point on the island of Sao Miguel, with the Seven Cities as a backdrop. Then, begin descending to the north coast, stopping at the Fire Lake viewpoint for a glimpse of this magnificent turquoise lake. A leisurely stop at Caldeira Velha where you can enjoy the hot springs heated naturally by the heat of the volcano, the famous cascade of hot water and all tropical vegetation, which provides magnificent photographs for later recall. In addition, stop at Ribeira Grande City, where you may visit the historical center and the Liquors Factory and store, for a test of all the liquors that are produced there. Finally, time to take back to the road and return to your hotel, storing in memory so much beauty, wishing that everything was great and that you have been dazzled by this small paradise, lost somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic.

Tour was great, guide was great! Good small tour size. He was flexible with timing and really helped us to maximize our time to be able to see what we were most interested in. Even though we saw many different sites on the island, it did not feel rushed and we even had time to relax in the thermal pool for some time.

The tour was excellent. We were picked up and returned to our apartment. Tiago was on time and his English was very good. The roads can be tricky for first time visitors to the island and it was nice to have someone who was familiar with the roads and know exactly where they were going. The sites were breathtakingly beautiful. Tiago was excellent, very knowledgeable and very flexible in terms of the rearranging the schedule to suit our needs. The day was beautiful and some of the younger folks in the party wanted to do some beach time. We had mentioned that we were going the Furnas and Tiago suggested that we could skip the Caldeira Velha and go to the beach instead. The brought us to the Santa Barbara beach and the end of the for about 90 minutes and it was a fantastic way to end the day. He even let us stay an extra half hour which was fantastic. The lunch was excellent as well. Overall an excellent experience.

We had an amazing day! We got picked up from our hotel in the morning and were dropped off at our hotel in the late afternoon. Our driver and guide (Ruy) was excellent and very good company. He told us a lot about the island and showed us many different places (maybe even more than what was planned). We had some fog at Sete Cidades, but that didn’t take away the view and it made it a bit mystical. We had lunch at O Carlos, which had very good food (I learnt to eat tuna!) and good service. Afterwards we went to Lagao do Fogo (Fire Lake) and had a breathtaking view of the lake. We then drove off to Caldeira Velha to enjoy a nice swim in a thermal bath. Don’t forget to bring your swimsuit, a towel and slippers; it’s worth it! Please take this tour if you enjoy nature; your guide can tell you all sorts of things about the island. 5/5 would recommend! And for Ruy: thank you so much for this wonderful day!
