  • From Madrid: Avila and Segovia Full-Day Trip

    1. From Madrid: Avila and Segovia Full-Day Trip

Avila is one of Spain’s oldest cities, and surrounded by well-preserved walls dating from the 11th century, it resembles an immense castle. The old quarters are home to a number of important Romanesque churches, Gothic palaces, and the city’s 12th-century Gothic cathedral, which is also fortified. On this full-day excursion from Madrid, you’ll see the exterior of the Avila Cathedral, the Romanesque Basilica of San Vicente, and visit the Plaza Mayor. Take a short walk through the city’s old streets to the Convent of Ste. Therese. Continue on to Segovia, a city rich in historical monuments. See the magnificent Roman Aqueduct from the time of Emperor Augustus. The elegant Cathedral, and its Alcazar fortress, the most spectacular castle in Spain, are among the highlights. Both Avila and Segovia are listed as Heritage of Mankind cities.

Great experience with great tour guide in Avila and Segovia. We learned lots of information of those wonderful towns. Recommend it!

  • Madrid: Segovia and Ávila Highlights Tour At Your Own Pace

    2. Madrid: Segovia and Ávila Highlights Tour At Your Own Pace

The tour departs the busy city of Madrid and heads to the first stop of the day the UNESCO World Heritage-listed city of Segovia. Armed with your tourist information pack provided by your escort guide, head to the Aqueduct of Segovia to start the tour of this fascinating location. Learn about the Aqueduct of Segovia, a prodigy of Roman engineering and an icon that represents this beautiful city. From the Aqueduct, head into the medieval part of town and enjoy the stunning views from the Canaleja, then continue onto the Plaza Mayor and marvel at the spectacular Segovia Cathedral. Next, walk towards the Alcázar of Segovia which was once the fortified residence to the kings of Spain and boasts a magnificent architecture inspired by palaces. After your stroll around Segovia, head back to the bus and to the next destination of the day, Ávila, another UNESCO World Heritage-listed city. Immer...

We were very pleased with everything except that we had expected the lecture about each of the locations to be longer than 2 - 3 minutes. We suggest you add the words "very brief" to your on-line description of what's included in the tour or lengthen the talk.

  • From Ajaccio: Sanguinaires Islands Sunset Boat Trip

    3. From Ajaccio: Sanguinaires Islands Sunset Boat Trip

Watch the sunset from one of Corsica's best sunset locations on this boat trip from Ajaccio. Get the chance to explore the largest of the Sanguinaires Islands, Mezzu Mare, and enjoy a glass of wine and charcuterie board onboard. Board your speedboat in Ajaccio and set sail for Mezzu Mare, where you will moor for an hour. Explore the island on foot and visit a 19th-century lighthouse for panoramic views of the entire archipelago or take a dip in the crystal-clear waters. On your return to the boat, sit down to a delicious charcuterie tasting board served with Corsican rosé wine. Relax as the sun sets over the Mediterranean Sea. Finally, enjoy one last dip in the warm waters of the sea before returning to the port.

The trip was well planned and the tours were informative and worthwhile. The only reason I gave this a 4* rating is the lunch was not very good. Nacho was an excellent guide and our bus driver Sous did a good job driving so many miles. We learned a lot about Spanish history.

What people are saying about Ávila

The tour was very good, the guide I think her name was Ana, was very nice and knowledgeable she answered every question. The only thing was that another participant did not wanted to follow the group and was very disruptive but the guide kept her cool and handle the situation. The driver Paco was very nice too.

Tamar was a wonderful guide for our tour of these three beautiful cities and our driver Suso was superb. If all the guides and drivers are this good, this is a must do tour for anyone looking to explore the countrysides surrounding Madrid.

They gave us the option of a guided tour, but we could also just go off on our own. They made the timing and the meeting instructions clear. The guide and the driver were both very helpful and professional.

We really liked Segovia. In Ávila, we had less time but also very beautiful.
