Full description
The Pont du Gard is the best preserved aqueduct from the Roman period. Built to supply the Roman city of Nimes with water, this amazing structure is 50 kilometers long. In addition to seeing the Pont du Gard, you’ll visit some of the most attractive villages in Provence on this 6.5-hour tour. Les Baux de Provence is a picturesque medieval village built on a rocky spur in the Alpilles Mountains. Its surrounding olive groves produce a very popular type of olive oil. Drive through the beautiful landscape to the Luberon, a mountainous region that is part of the Parc Naturel Régional du Luberon. Stop at the picturesque village of Gordes, built entirely from dry stones. See Roussillon, a town that’s renowned for the beautiful colors of its houses and walls. The natural pigments used in the paints are extracted from the ocher cliffs surrounding the village. Both Gordes and Roussillon rank among the most beautiful villages in France.

Very much balanced, informative and only positive impression. For sure you got to book this if you want to see a the pearls of Provence. Makes sence to print your vouchers upfront. A d come in time when your guide says, he wants the best for you _ like seeing Roussillon in best light!

We saw three places that were all representative of historic sites for Roman and later architecture. We were driven there in comfort in an 8 seater van. Our guide Frederick was knowledgeable and friendly and we got to see parts of the Provence countryside we never would have known about in a time frame we never could have achieved (6 1/2h). We had just enough time to wander around at each site and see interesting things, shop and eat. Our guide was able to explain many things about the history of the place and also about French customs and culture which was helpful sand interesting as well. Our group were very quiet and it must have been hard going for our guide at times to get people to engage.

Wow, simply stunning

I did the best of Provence afternoon tour which lasts around 6.5 hours (21st June). The tour included entrance to the Pont Du Gard and you stop at 2 villages - Les Baux-de-Provence and Rousillon. The tour description mentions Gordes but it should be noted that this is a photo stop only (totally worth the stop as the view is stunning). There was also a bonus photo stop at a lavender field (I missed out on a lavender field excursion because it was fully booked, so I was happy with this unexpected stop). I felt the time allocated for each stop was about right as each destination isn't very large. Its enough time to take photos, grab an ice-cream and use the loo. The group was a good size as well, around 8 people (including myself) and we all had a bit of a chat with each other which was really nice. All in all I felt yes at first glance the tour does seem pricey but I found it to be worth the money and was totally glad I booked it as something to do on my full last day in Avignon.
