Full description
On this 5-hour tour from Avignon you’ll see some of the most important stone monuments in Provence that date back to the Roman period. First on the itinerary is the Pont du Gard, one of best-preserved aqueducts of the Roman Empire. It was built by the Romans in the 1st century to supply the city of Nimes with water. Visit Les Baux de Provence, a picturesque medieval village that sits on a rocky spur in the Alpilles Mountains, surrounded by olive groves that produce a well-known olive oil. Admire the well-preserved Roman monument for a photo stop at the Antiques of St Remy de Provence. See sites at the northern edge of the Alpilles that inspired van Gogh’s paintings, including his iconic Starry Night.

It's a very nice experience, we are a small group of 8, the guide Christian is very friendly and welcoming. He knows the history of each site well and remains at our disposal for any questions during the trip. The journey took a long time and we may have 3 hours of visit in real. I would have liked to have had more free time. Departure and return times are well respected. I really like this exercise.

We joined for the second half of the day’s excursion and it was just great! The air conditioned van made it so much more enjoyable to see all that we were passing by, and the car rides were just as beautiful as the site visits. Jeremy did not spend too much time providing history lessons which was nice, he gave the perfect amount of context to each visit we made.

Hubby and I enjoyed our 4 hour trip with Laure, a very personable driver. The trip was 1 hour shorter than advertised, and the stop at Les Baux would have benefited from the extra hour. I was looking forward to seeing the castle as it is described as outstanding in several travel books. But there was no time Nonetheless, Laure drove us to all the sites and provided good background info.
