Full description
Climb into a private vehicle and begin your tour of downtown Atlanta. Begin on Peachtree Street located along Atlanta’s main thoroughfare and home to one the South’s oldest private clubs, several historic churches, and the site of the deadliest hotel fire in US history. Then head into the Fairlie Poplar Historic District - the commercial heart of the city which contains a range of architectural styles popular in the late 19th and early-20th centuries including Atlanta's Flatiron Building. Then head to the Centennial Olympic Park to see The World of Coke, Georgia Aquarium, National Center for Civil Rights, and CNN. Finally, witness the imposing Mercedes Benz Stadium which is home to the Falcons and Atlanta United. Continue the tour with a drive through midtown, where you will see the apartment where the Pulitzer-Prize winning author Margaret Mitchell wrote Gone With The Wind. Admire the Fox Theater & Georgian Terrace, a lavishly restored 1920's movie palace. Head into the Ansley Park neighborhood known for its winding roads, beautiful landscaping, and a variety of architecture predominantly from the early 20th-century. Finish this section of the tour at Piedmont Park and the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. Next, see some of the finest architecture in the city in the exclusive neighborhood of Buckhead and Tuxedo Park including the 1920's Swan House which featured in The Hunger Games movies. See numerous sites related to the life of Martin Luther King Jr., the leader of the Civil Rights Movement and step inside the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library. Make a quick stop in the Ponce City Market which hosts a vibrant mix of restaurants, shops, apartments, and offices. End the tour with a drive through the Eastside district of the city. Pass by Cabbagetown, one of the 1st textile processing mills built in the South and the restored mansions at Inman Park. End the day with a tour of Grant Park - Atlanta’s oldest city park, home to Zoo Atlanta and a large collection of restored Victorian and Craftsman homes.
