Knowledgeable tour guides and Meteora was absolutely beautiful! We loved the view, got to visit 4/6 of the monasteries, and learned about the history of the area. I would have given 5/5 for the experience, but only gave 4 stars because: - I had asked for more information beforehand (which hotel, train tickets, schedule etc) but never got information about the hotel (or whether we’d be staying in Kalambaka or Kastraki) or the schedule beforehand - The listing said that we would be booked a 3-star hotel, but when we got there we found out that it was a 2-star hotel. Had I known this, I would have booked our own hotel separately and just booked the tours. It was convenient getting a ride to/from the train station as part of the 2 day tour, but not sure if it was worth the extra cost. - The second day, tour ended ~1pm. The train isn’t until ~5pm, so we were just waiting around at a cafe in town. I wish we could have seen another one of the monasteries in that time instead.

I loved my stay in Kalambaka and tours of Meteora! I arrived in Kalambaka via train from Athens at 12:30pm, was picked up by the tour guide and driver from the station, and escorted to my hotel where I checked in. I had a few hours to explore Kalambaka on my own before being picked up by guide Dino and driver. I was the only person on the evening tour; Dino was a fantastic guide and showed me around 1 monastery in Meteora, a Byzantine chapel, as well as sunset tour viewing the rocks from above. The next day two other ladies joined the tour and I was able to see Meteora during midday, exploring 3 more monasteries and additional photo ops of the beautiful Meteora views. I chose the 2 day overnight tour instead of the 1 day tour because I felt riding the train for 4 hours each way on the same day wouldn't be fun. So glad I made this choice! The hotel was perfect, comfortable private room and included breakfast. The hotel employees were so friendly and accomodating.

Saw 5 out of the 6 monasteries, the guide on the first day was fun but didn't share much info. But finally the second day the other guide more than shared historical and geographical info. Clean and simple hotel in good location. Recommended to sleep Atleast one night in kalambaka
