This full-day tour begins as you head south from Lisbon to Setúbal, a picturesque region best known for its fishing port. In Setúbal, board a fully restored salt galleon, or a modern catamaran (depending on weather and sea conditions), for a relaxing and enjoyable cruise in the Sado Estuary, where you’ll learn about the resident bottlenose dolphins and hopefully be able to observe wild dolphins in their natural environment. The duration of the cruise takes about 2 to 3 hours. See the natural reserve of Arrábida, take in the stunning views, and learn about the area’s history and gastronomy. See the Arrábida Convent and discover some important historical sites before returning to the old city center of Setúbal. Before returning to Lisbon, stop at a few sights in the Arrabida Mountain range, from where you can marvel at the natural reserve and get a land view of all the region.

If the weather conditions allow, and there is interest among the participants, stop in a strategic and sheltered place to swim in the calm and crystal-clear waters.
Overall, we enjoyed the trip very much. The return trip close to the shore was very nice. The guide shared some interesting info with us during that time. It would have helped to have some signage or have the guide meet us as we wondered around quite before we found the tour. The boat did not have comfortable seating with only two small seats with backs and the rest of the people had to sit together on a big square seat with no backs. A more comfortable boat would have made the trip more enjoyable.

José was great. He is well read, well-informed, accommodating, creative and very funny. We had a wonderful day. I did not know when I booked that it was a private tour. I would not have booked it had I known - that would have been a mistake. I can not recommend him highly enough.
The Sado estuary is the natural habitat of the Bottlenose dolphins (Roazes in Portuguese). Welcomed by the population who feeds and protects them, these marine mammals are especially sociable. They can be observed along the coast of Arrábida all year long. This activity is carried out between Setúbal, Troia and Serra da Arrábida. Swim from the boat supported by the specialized guide on board for unforgettable encounters with the dolphins. They will also teach you about the marine environment and the biodiversity all around you. As you go they will comment on the geology and points of local archaeological importance.

The tour in 2009 was awesome ... in 2021 it was another great experience. Even if you didn't see any dolphins, the catamaran trip would be worth every penny.
Very complete and interesting tour. Our guide (André) very attentive and open to suggestions to customize the tour. Very good experience
Everything went well! From booking to monitoring on the boat and enough time with the dolphins
I really enjoyed the tour, and I've already recommended it to my friends.
