    1. Arrábida and Sesimbra Day Tour & Wine Tasting

Experience the flavors and natural beauty of Portugal on this lovely full-day tour. Heading towards Portugal's Extremadura region, you will travel out of Lisbon over the longest bridge in Europe, the Vasco da Gama Bridge. In Palmela, you will find a Moorish castle offering fantastic photo opportunities. Visit a family estate where you can try homemade wine. Then continue through the mountains of the Arrábida National Park - up to 500 meters or 1,640 feet above sea level- and marvel at the spectacular views of one of Portugal's most beautiful landscapes. The park is also home to many plant and animal species found exclusively in this region. Much of the park is subject to strong protective measures and certain locations can only be accessed with special permission. Time for a short break. Take a relaxed stroll on the beach of Portinho Arrábida and enjoy the cool sea breeze and crisp air...

Nuno was our guide! Excellent...! Our guide was excellent, personable, always remembered every question. He set up such a wonderful day, all we had to do was show up! As people who typically plan our own tours, it was so carefree to have someone organize such specific things and knew the area intimately.

  • From Sesimbra: Arrábida Dolphin Watching Boat Tour

    2. From Sesimbra: Arrábida Dolphin Watching Boat Tour

Look for bottlenose dolphins in the Sado Estuary on a scenic cruise from Sesimbra. Board the boat at Sesimbra Recreational Port, and then cruise along the Sado River towards Arrábida National Park. Look for the resident bottlenose dolphins in their natural habitat, along with common dolphins and dwarf whales. Interact with the delightful creatures as they feed, socialize and frolic in the water. Benefit from the services of an expert guide who will enlighten you about the marine environment and biodiversity of the shore. Learn about the geology and get information about local points of archaeological importance. If the weather conditions allow, and there is interest among the participants, stop in a strategic and sheltered place to swim in the calm and crystal-clear waters.

Overall, we enjoyed the trip very much. The return trip close to the shore was very nice. The guide shared some interesting info with us during that time. It would have helped to have some signage or have the guide meet us as we wondered around quite before we found the tour. The boat did not have comfortable seating with only two small seats with backs and the rest of the people had to sit together on a big square seat with no backs. A more comfortable boat would have made the trip more enjoyable.

The wine tasting was delightful. The first vineyard was set in some very picturesque countryside and maybe the more important element was that the wine was delicious. My partner and I bought some to take home to remember the trip. The reds we tried may have converted my partner to red wine. The whites were excellent and all of the wines were very reasonably priced. The stop off for lunch was in a postcard beachside town and the views going over the mountains were frankly amazing. Snapping a few pictures of my phone didn’t really do them justice. Whilst the wine at the second location wasn’t to our taste that’s not to say it was bad wine. The tour was really interesting and the gardens of the house a delight to walk through. Our tour guide was a lovely man, chatty, informative and really made the day more special. Would recommend this tour to all who say they’re going to Lisbon.

Our guide, Joao, was great. Very knowledgeable about the history of the area we were in and knew where to stop for the best photo ops. The two wine tasting stops were great, very different from each other. One was a small family operation and the other was a major player in the wine industry.

The tour guide is amazing! Ricardo even helped in taking photos. The tour guides are very nice. They make sure that you get to your tour. They speak different languages.

Our guide was great. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. I loved the first winery was the most fun.
