The Arouca 516 Footbridge spans 516 m (1,692 ft) across the valley and hangs 175 m (576 ft) above the Paiva River. The walking deck is made of a see-through, open-grid metal mesh, guaranteed to add a kick of adrenaline to your experience.

Nearby, the Paiva Walkways offer one of the most beautiful walking trails in the world and are a World Travel Awards winner. It is an 8 km boardwalk zigzagging down along the left bank of Paiva River at Arouca UNESCO Global Geopark. Arouca 516 was on my bucket list for the sheer fact it was a crazy challenge out of my usual box. In photos, the structure looked beautiful and strong. But how to get there? Look no further than Norberto with Ennetours (getyourguide). His tour is fantastic! Every detail is coordinated - from meetup, to transport, intro to Arouca plus amazing lunch! Super fun! A great experience. Be prepared to do a fair bit of walking and don't forget to bring water especially if it is hot out. Couple of bars along the way to grab water or a beer. Norberto was an excellent guide and host. Delicious traditional lunch.

it was absolutely amazing. Ricardo was really a genuinely lovely guy. He did everything he could to ensure we were all happy and comfortable. The bridge was incredible. The hike was beautiful and peaceful. Our lunch was delicious and at a stunning, intimate restaurant. Awesome value for money.
