Mauricio was a great guide. He picked us up at our apartment in Medellin on time and spoke great English - told us great stories and explained everything the entire day. We had a nice breakfast closer to El Peñol and then we went on a 45 minute boat ride on the Guatapé dam. Next we went to climb the Rock. It has stunning views of the area and it’s totally worth it. We were exhausted and stopped for a nice lunch right after of typical paisa food. Yummy. From lunch we went into the town of Guatapé and it’s famous zócalos. My wife is a photographer and Mauricio took us on a walking tour for several hours. It’s a gorgeous, whimsical place. We stopped for great café at the plazeta and bought nice and very reasonably priced arts and crafts. By the end we were exhausted but very happy. Guatapé must be one of the prettiest towns we’ve ever visited. We highly recommend this tour (Sergio, the owner, runs a very tight ship snd checked in with us before, during and after. Fantastic experience).
What an utterly amazing tour! The private tour with Epic Tours Medellín is the way to go! Today’s tour was of Comuna 13. Manny was my guide and took me through the city of Medellín explained the history of the city, their on going social programs, and with the bonus of sampling local cuisine along the way. Next up a ride on the metro cable which was thrilling and then on to Comuna 13. It was like exploring with an old friend. Comuna 13 was the crown jewel of this experience. Finding out about the violent past and the significance behind the artwork in the murals and listening to the explanation. How the people of the community embraced change and created a “new Medellín”! It is something I will always treasure. Also, being able to interact with the residents was a fabulous treat. This is a tour you must undertake if you come to Medellín. When I come back I will certainly do this tour again.
The views from the top El Peñol rock are beautiful. We climbed the 750 steps with our kids and it was totally worth it. Our guide, Luis Fernando was great; knowledgeable, with great energy and great sense of humor. Don’t forget to grab some “pan de queso” in the drive up to Guatapé. The town of Guatapé is pretty cool. It was nice to walk around the town square full of crafts and local shops and bars.
The tour was the perfect blend of city + Pablo Escobar! It's not easy to find a combo tour and when strapped for time this is the perfect blend. Would (and have) highly recommend!!
We had a fabulous tour guided by Daniella and Jorge, very nice, very friendly, very knowledgeable.
