We were blown away by our guide Yunus, who quickly picked up that we’re not into museums, and just wanted to wander around with him and see some highlights. We started with Ataturk’s mausoleum, a must see, not just the General who repulsed the 1915 invasion, but a visionary who went on to save Turkey in the 20’s, but establish the Republic. From there we visited the Ankara Castle and strolled around the old town. That was an eye opener, especially the 800 year old ‘wooden mosque’. Then it was something new and a trip in the cable car system. In there also was a great lunch, a lot of information from Yunus, and a real friendly connection. I’ve had guided tours across Europe, this was truely wonderful, and one we don’t forget.

We got to see a real local’s view of Ankara - exactly what we were looking for. Yunus was an amazing guide - friendly and honest and shared with us history and experiences we would have never been able to know otherwise. He even adapted our tour on the spot based on recommendations and asks. Eye opening and heartfelt.

I had Gök Cher in Ankara, Turkeye and had seen more Ankara than I expected. He also suggest the place for lunch where the local eat at a very fancy but reasonable price to end of our tour. He also used his car to take us to places. So so have seen more and the hours he also extended it without any charge. He was an excellent guide and so I highly recommend him to anyone who like to know how the local Ankara population live day by day.
