Pompeii: Small-Group Tour with an Archeologist
- Skip the line
- Duration: 2 hours
Visit this Roman city with all its temples, theaters, homes, and public buildings. On the morning of August 24, AD 79, the Vesuvius eruption took Pompeii's 11,000 residents by surprise. The dramatic event killed the inhabitants and the city was buried beneath ash. This event created one of the most preserved archeological sites in the world today. Explore well-known sites such as the amphitheater, the Villa of Mysteries as well as the houses of Vettii and Faun, amongst others.
It's really worth going to Pompeii! However, the tickets onsite are sold for 16 EUR while I paid 22 EUR online. This is annoying. I went there on a Saturday that was supposed to be sold out (online), but they still sold tickets to visitors that did not have a reservation.
Skip the long lines and discover the remains of the Roman city. See ancient ruins, destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD, leaving the city buried under mountains of volcanic ash. Take advantage of an audio guide service to see houses and everyday items that are still almost intact. Experience this everyday Roman town, almost like it was under the Roman Empire.
Don't bother buying any kind of ticket for pompeii other than the official italian ONLINE ticket. there is no 'fast track' 'skip the queue' tickets. the only people who can skip the queue are the ones with the actual online Tickets. Not the getyourguide or any other kind of voucher tickets. also stay away from the Ticket office at the trainstation. even tho there are signs that it deals with getyourguide tickets, it is not the official Pompeii ticket office and they just waste your time there.

The tour is definitely worth the price specially if you don't have much time in Napoli.
This tour begins with collection from a pre-arranged meeting point, and your driver will then take you to three key sites of the Naples region. Firstly, Pompeii is of unparalleled importance and a trip to the area would be incomplete without visiting the town, which was buried under a vast layer of burning stone and ash when Vesuvius erupted in AD79. Thanks to this layer of ash, everything was incredibly well-preserved so that visitors today can walk around an intact Roman town, enter houses, temples, amphitheatres and even a brothel, and truly feel what it was like to live in Roman times. The second stop is a vineyard located near the base of Mount Vesuvius. Here, you will be able to taste some delicious local wines and visit the vineyard. Boscotrecase, where it is located, is a town of intense agricultural activity, especially directed to the production of fine wines. Finally, visit ...
Enjoy a superb 8-hour tour that combines diverse experiences, driving along the coast of the Sorrentine Peninsula to the laid-back town of Sorrento, an elegant seaside town on the Tyrrhenian Sea. A favorite among artists, poets, and musicians, including Goethe, its unique atmosphere gave inspiration to famous characters like Casanova. Stroll through elegant piazzas, and experience the Italian lifestyle, wandering along narrow streets lined with little shops, high fashion boutiques, outdoor cafès, and restaurants. Continue to Pompeii to walk along roads once walked on by Roman citizens in the bustling town before it was destroyed by the volcanic eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D. Temples, houses, villas, shops, and theaters were all frozen in time by the event, and the ruins are a like a time machine back to the days of the Roman Empire. Finally, drive to the top of the very volcano that ...
Many places to visit in Naples. Sorrento is very nice but we have very short time there. We hope we will come back Sorrento in someday.

Sergio was an excellent guide, genuine storyteller who is passionate about the subject. He speaks great English and was very easy to understand and follow which is very nice for those of us who don’t speak Italian. The guide is a must at this beautiful site and I cannot recommend this enough. Very interesting history and insights into archeology, the park is a must see and this guide is perfect.
Anna Sorrento was an amazing guide! She led us to the most intersting places of Pompeii and told interesting anecdotes. It was an advantage that she works herself as an archeologue at Pompeii. She also made sure that we could stand in the shade when possible. We highly recommend taking a tour with Anna!
Very interesting tour with guide Paula. She explained many things and answered all our questions. Absolutely recommended as this adds to understanding Roman life.
Really interesting experience, the guide had an excellent in-depth knowledge to Pompeii and was able to give an insightful tour
