Full description
Day 1: Pickup from Kochi airport or railway station and transfer to your hotel in Fort Kochi. In the late afternoon start your private tour of Fort Kochi by visiting the Chinese fishing nets that were introduced by traders in the 14th century. Kochi fishermen still use these fishing nets to earn their livelihoods. Continue your stroll down to St Francis Church, one of the oldest churches in India. The church was constructed in 1503 by Portuguese friars. Next, see the Santa Cruz Basilica, one of the largest and most impressive churches in India. Then visit the Mattancherry Palace, built by the Portuguese and presented to the Raja of Kochi in 1555. Next door is the Paradesi Synagogue, the oldest active synagogue in South India. Admire the ornate brass pulpit, the glass chandelier, and hand-painted Chinese porcelain floor tiles. In the evening, watch a live Kathakali dance performance at a local cultural center. Overnight stay in a hotel in Kochi.  Day 2: After breakfast, check out from your hotel and transfer to Alappuzha to board the houseboat around midday. Once aboard the houseboat, you will slowly cruise through the backwaters and village area of Alappuzha, passing paddy fields and coconut palm trees. Lunch and dinner will be served on board and you will stay overnight on the houseboat. Day 3: After breakfast, the cruise will finish. You will then be transferred back to Kochi.
