Benefit from pick-up from your cruise ship in Akureyri Port, and then drive to Lake Mývatn and the surrounding wetlands area near Krafla volcano. Stop at Goðafoss waterfall and hear about its important role in the history of Iceland. Continue to the pseudo craters of Skútustaðagígar, formed when hot flowing lava met with ice cold water from the lake. See the lava fields of Dimmuborgir, rich in mythical sagas and stunning to look at for the lava pillars and rock formations.   Discover the thermal waters of an underground river at Grjotagja, where you will stand on the continental rift between Europe and America. End with a look at the boiling mud pools of Hverir and gaze in awe at the steaming fumaroles and sulfur pits. Such a memorable trip! We were picked up right at the cruise ship and Thor our guide kept us informed the whole trip not just with ‘official’ facts about this wonderful country but with his own family history. Made it come alive! On top of that, I left my spectacles on the bus, discovering this only when the ship sailed away from Akureyri. Thinking they were gone forever, I was totally amazed to be able to pick them up at Reykjavik where they had been sent first class post. This was way and above any service expected and I was so grateful! Totally recommend this company - you will not be disappointed!

Great shore leave! - Definitely recommendable to every crusader.

Great, perfect pick-up at the port and on time, very informative native guide, return offered the opportunity to explore Akureyri for 2 hours. The tour showed us everything that was promised, small group size (approx. 12 people) many short photo stops, the guide chose and planned the stops so that we were at the points before the "big" mass buses of the shipping line, so that they were not yet overrun.

First class tour which gave a great flavour of this wonderful country.

Paul was an excellent guide giving us all a well balanced tour of this area with a good amount of relevant information without overloading us. We were fortunate that we had our best day of weather on our cruise and we made the most of it enjoying the incredible views from the mighty Godfoss falls, geyser's and lava fields to the panama's around each bend in the road.
