Full description

Visit the site of the first Winter Olympics. In Chamonix, experience majestic scenery on a drive through the Arve Valley and from the 12,605-foot viewing platform on Europe’s highest mountain. This day tour begins in Geneva with a drive across the French border through the glacier-fed Arve Valley. At Chamonix, marvel at the splendid backdrop of the massive peaks of the Aiguilles Rouges. You’ll take the cable car up to Aiguille du Midi, which was the world’s highest cable car ride when it was launched in 1955. Enjoy breathtaking panoramas of this Alpine wonderland, with views into France, Switzerland, and Italy. Lunch will be at your leisure. You will also have the chance to ride the astonishing Montenvers rack railway to the Mer de Glace glacier. The journey on this electric train covers 3 miles of beautiful mountainous scenery before arriving at the longest glacier in France. Spend the day as you please. Wander by foot to discover the town’s many delights, such as Parc Loisir, Musée Alpin, Lac Gaillands or Atelier Les Racines.

Chamonix is the world capital for outdoor activities: mountaineering, alpinism, hiking, climbing, mountain biking, paragliding, trail running, and skiing.

This tour is definitely worth it! The views are breathtaking and the aiguille du midi and mer de glace options were really beautiful as well. We had roger as our guide and he kept us laughing the whole way there and back. We went in February so temperatures weren’t too bad but it’s best to bring gloves, a hat, and thicker pants to keep warm. No boots needed for this time. I did the whole tour in sneakers and so did a lot of other travelers.

The bus trip was quick and the cable car to Aguille de Midi and the train to Mer de Glace was wonderful! The excursions and views were one of a kind - highly recommend. The tour guide could have been more descriptive in the overall day and times to ensure all understand properly.

Fantastic experience, well organised and every member of staff I encountered at the tourist office were lovely. The coach ride was over before you knew it there & back with beautiful scenery Our tour guide (Chris) was fantastic - he explained everything really well and answered any questions without hesitation Chamonix is absolutely stunning! We were pre-warned about the 3 suspension bridges that cause the cable car to knock and swing on the way up & down to the first view point. Once at the top the views are absolutely phenomenal - out of this world! Pictures do not do it justice One thing I would note is it was absolutely freezing! Of course no fault of the provider but just a heads up you should layer up & wear a decent coat and gloves!! The price for the trip is very fair and you have the security of the guide should anything not go to plan (as opposed to navigating this trip alone!) Very highly recommend, special thanks again to Chris for being so great :)
