Full description
After a pick-up at your hotel in Kalabaka or Kastraki you’ll travel a few miles northwest from Kalabaka, to Meteora. The impressive rocks of Meteora rise from the plains of Thessaly, and are one of the most amazing sites in Greece. Many centuries ago, on these gigantic rocks reaching heights of close to 2,000 feet, one of the most important monastic communities of Greece was formed. During this 4-hour tour you’ll experience spectacular landscapes and marvel at the Byzantine monasteries perched atop the steep rocks. Today only 6 monasteries are still active, operated by a small number of monks and nuns who reside in Meteora. You’ll be able to see all 6 monasteries and have the chance to visit inside 3 of them and admire their priceless artifacts. There will be numerous photo stops along the way, so you'll be able to record your memories. Enjoy short walks during the excursion as well.

The trip was nice and the staff was super friendly. I would say the only semi negative is I thought I would learn more about each of the monasteries as it relates to things we found inside. That might be my misunderstanding of the tour, but it would be helpful and maybe something to consider. Again the staff was so kind

The communication was great! W arrived at their offices a few minutes late and they waited for us and were very courteous. We were a group of 5. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and explained things very clearly. That day a née tour guide was training and she was also very useful in explaining things to my friend in Spanish. It was an amazing tour and we highly recommend it.

It was a very interesting tour with excellent explanations about the surroundings and the monasteries. We visited inside 3 of them, and we saw six, we received valuable information about each of them. The van has air conditioning and we were picked up right in front of our apartment and left in the same place. We highly recommend this guided tour!
