Full description
Take a tour of the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp on this half-day tour from Berlin. Learn about the history of the facility that was once used for political prisoners but also served as the administrative center of the Nazi concentration camp system. You’ll take a short train ride to the outskirts of Berlin to this desolate reminder of one of the worst eras in human history. Walk through the camp as your guide describes the daily life of prisoners and explains the tactics of control used by the Nazis. Hear stories of tragedy and triumph, and learn about everyday life in the camp and some of the tactics used by the Nazis. Although this is a very sobering and somber tour you will also have a chance to remember the strong personalities of victims and survivors, whose actions still provide inspiration today.

This is a difficult place to guide people through and our guide was able to provide a great amount of information from the very start of Berlin and the locations we were in and developed throughout the day, he paced everything really well and was respectful to the area and what had happened! Also had an amazing amount of knowledge including recommendations on books to read that go into more detail really highly recommend going here with a guide

We met Sebastian at the meeting point which was very easy to find, made our way to the camp which is worth a visit but would recommend that if the weather is cold and wet in the city it will be even more cold and wet at the camp which is very open and not much shelter which does give the impression of how it must have been in the years the camp was open. Sebastian had a very good knowledge of the camp and area and was very informative. I would recommend that you do have some knowledge of the rise of the Nazi party in Germany from 1933 to appreciate the camp, but if you are in Berlin it is well worth a visit

It was a very important and valuable experience. There is much to be learned from the past, even sad and horrible places like concentration camps need to be conserved in order to educate. Sachsenhausen is one of the better preserved concentration camps in Germany with a lot of documents and personal accounts of the time people spent here. This is definitely a go-to location for anyone with an interest in history.
