Full description

Embark on a day trip in a van to Chernobyl and Prypiat from Kyiv to witness the destruction of a nuclear accident. Walk past grand memorials, the famous Duga Radar, and the deserted village of Kopachi, listening to your licensed guide's information.

Meet your guide in Kyiv and have you passport details checked before departing. Sit back and relax on the 2hour van ride to the main entrance of the zone, Checkpoint Dytiatky. Here, pass through passport control and begin this tour. Discover the town of Chernobyl, where almost 5,000 people work and live. See the main square in the town of Chernobyl and the Wormwood Star Memorial, where one of the last few remaining statues of Lenin still stands in Ukraine.

Move on to the Chernobyl river port with its eery sunken boats and ships. Make a quick stop at the local shop (if needed) before heading to the Memorial to Those Who Saved the World. Then, head to the very overgrown village of Kopachi where almost all the buildings were buried in the ground during the decontamination works of 1986. Stop near the remaining nursery school.

After lunch, go to Prypiat, the abandoned town where time stopped on April 26th, 1986, when the entire town had to evacuate following the nuclear accident. Travel back in time and plunge into the communist era. Your professional guide will help you explore and get to understand the town for roughly 2 hours.

Top tour to the places that are not standard. Kate (guide) was very flexible, so we walked around more than other tours because we wanted it that way. Lots of photo stops. Food is in the canteen of the nuclear power plant (not very tasty). Overall well organized and run smoothly

To put it simply - unforgettable. Our guide, Alex, was an amazing professional all around - historical facts, basic concepts of nuclear physics and really great communication skills in perfect English. We’ve had enough time to see everything and Alex kindly took photos of us whenever we asked him to. Day ended with a nice little lunch at Cafe Desiatka in Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. Highly recommend!

The tour was fantastic, everything went according to plan. Alex our guide was very very knowledgeable and the best guide you could imagine. I have never seen somebody that is so passionate and informed about this topic. He provided us with a deep understanding of the context and the origins of the catastrophe. Alex/Sashko deserves a pay raise!
