São Paulo: 2,5 Hours - Liberdade "Street Food" Tour

10. São Paulo: 2,5 Hours - Liberdade "Street Food" Tour

Did you know that São Paulo is home to the largest Japanese community outside of Japan? Liberdade, a place with a strong and very old history, once a military district, became 100 years ago the place of Japanese immigrants in the city of São Paulo. Today a place of migrants from many places, China, Korea, Congo, Haiti, this neighborhood is a blast of cultures and diversity with a strong Afro-Brazilian heritage! All of this diversity can be very well synthesized in its peculiar and differentiated cuisine. My experiences adhere to a zero waste of food policy. Come with an appetite and help me understand when is enough for you, so we don't throw anything away. ♥ I've been a gourmet guide since 2015 — Wine and beer lover — a Neapolitan passionate about foreign and local food — a point of view of a migrant, perfect for really entering and avoiding tourist traps;) Ready to taste Japanese pastel with tropical sugarcane juice, discover about Brazilian ‘Takoyaki’, and more? Whilst in Liberdade, your guide will explain to you the history of the very prevalent Japanese influence on the area. After your snacks, you'll partake on a walk to spot places of architectural beauty and discover just what kind of people live in this area.

This is a must do tour for anyone staying in Sao Paulo for any amount of time. The city can be extremely intimidating due to its size, somewhat stark and potentially frightening nature. Andre was an amazing tour guide and had a lot of personal stories and details to add that really made this tour special. He had great historical information to pass on and some excellent recommendations. He was super friendly and his English was excellent. Would highly recommend. Might even hit Andre up for some other recommendations while we are here. Andre also runs a tour through a competing service, which is cheaper, but the groups can be up to 30. This was a perfect, small group size of 6.

Laura and Severino took us on a really relaxed (not rushed) and informative tour of some of the highlights & history of this huge city. We had a lot of fun enjoying the foods and drinks from this vibrant & buzzing city expertly guided and cared for by Laura. I would highly recommend this your to see & experience how the locals live & enjoy their lives in São Paulo

A great adventure! Whole trip has been designed to cover the most important highlights of the city. Bruno (the guide) has been very helpful and constantly floods with great information about the city and Brazil itself. ~7h is pretty exhausting but allows to get the most out of the city. Highly recommend this guide trip!
