The entire plantation is not a guided tour like I thought. it's a quick 30 minute tour of the big house and the rest you look at on your own. a little disappointed that we couldn't take pictures inside, but the tour was good and saw some original pieces to the house. jackie was great. the airboat was insanely fun! if you get a good one, be prepared to get wet as we did a lot of full speed drifting, 360s, and jumping corners and bogs.
Val led us on an excellent walking tour through the Garden District after briefly stopping at the Lafayette Cemetery no. 1 and giving us many interesting facts. It is a bonus that he also happens to live in the district and has actually toured many of the homes we walked by. It was a lovely way to spend a few hours as we learned about the history of the area as well as the city.
Tour guide was passionate and well informed, very entertaining and I could see the love they have for the city. Beautiful locations and the real spooky parts are the reminders of truly violent history. They did not shy from the brutality of the past, and this contrasted with the respect for the dead and tragedy was beautiful.
Guide very knowledgeable about New Orleans history and shared how it is to live in that area. The cemetery being closed was a little disappointing but our guide took time to discuss history and show us what he could through the fence.
Brandon was so great! We got to get out and have a lot of fun using some cool ghost hunting equipment, and learning about the burial process in New orleans. highly recommend this tour!
