Oktoberfest: Let a local show you the Oktoberfest

6. Oktoberfest: Let a local show you the Oktoberfest

Learn about the legendary stories about the Oktoberfest and let us show you the most interesting beer tents and rides. There are many customs of the locals that we will explain and show you. The Oktoberfest is much more than just beer in a tent and visitors in traditional costumes. It's just cult. Our tour deals with the transformation of the Oktoberfest, from the original horse race to today's huge event, from the Bavarian beer culture, from show booths steeped in history and iconic beer tents. Historical information alternates with entertaining anecdotes about illustrious Oktoberfest personalities and legendary Oktoberfest hosts. Of course we also give some insider tips. After that you will see our beloved Wiesn with different eyes! In the Schaustellerstraße there are traditional show booths to discover next to the most modern attractions. The crinoline has been making its rounds at the Oktoberfest for almost 100 years and is one of the most historic rides. Strong guys used to push the merry-go-round here, but today it's automatic, of course. At the Tobbogan you can watch courageous Wiesn visitors slide or try it yourself. But be careful, first you have to conquer a treacherous conveyor belt. We would also be happy to take you to the Oide Wiesn, where you can experience pure nostalgia. In rides from yesteryear, it feels like it used to be and the beer garden of the Tradition festival tent invites you to linger. One beer tent follows the other on Bierstrasse. It's easy to lose track here. We will guide you through the beer tent labyrinth. There are curious beer elevators to be discovered, whole oxen on a spit and unusual tent paintings. Each tent has its own special features that are waiting to be discovered. Do you know why there are glass beer mugs in the beer tent today instead of the traditional clay keferloher? The association against fraudulent pouring had its fingers in the pie here. These and other special anecdotes and stories can be discovered with us at the Wiesn. Here we go!

I am giving 5 stars because I cannot give 10 stars. This tour was one of the most fun experiences my wife and I have ever had. Boris was exceptional in making this tour a memory for us to have forever. He started the tour by bringing us "breakfast" which was a delicous local lager and educated us on the history of Oktoberfest, and continued to give us facts about German beer as we walked to the festival. He then navigated us through all of the festival giving us history on rides dating back over 100 years as well as the original tents and opening ceremonies. He then took us to Augustiner tent for a local experience of the festical, we had an attractive charcutuerie board and pretzel and 2 delicous litres of local German lager. He taught us the "prost" song and continued sharing awesome stories about past Oktoberfest experiences and how to get have the best time while at the festival. I honestly was hesitant to book a tour for Oktoberfest but with Boris I would do it everytime.

While a tour of Oktoberfest wouldn’t be necessary as it is easy to navigate, the tour was worthwhile in making the experience easier and more meaningful. We would not have known about all of the unique customs and some of the not to miss carnival attractions. We returned to Oktoberfest a few days after the tour and felt like pros. The guides were friendly and professional and took good care of the group. I did find returning and hanging out with a non tourist group to bring more fun to Oktoberfest though so I recommend either breaking away from the group after or returning again to experience it with locals.

Oktoberfest had been on my bucket list for such a long time and I'm so thankful that we did it this way. You won't find a better tour operator for Oktoberfest and if you're lucky enough to be on Team Timmy your day will be even more outstanding. Food, beer, history, and plenty of laughs - will be back next year and the one after that and the one after that etc. for sure!

Fantastic and fun experience. Recommend this tour! Boris was great, a knowledgeable and personable guide. Thanks

Well organised and informative, great sense of fun to match the event
